Nearly 5 million meals have been delivered nation-wide thanks to Subaru of America, Inc.’s annual Share the Love Event — and each delivery brings more than just nourishment. It brings connection, care, and hope to seniors who rely on Meals On Wheels. At FLCM we are able to deliver 5 days a week at no charge to homebound elders.

Tomorrow, Jan 2nd marks the last day of the event, which enables customers who purchase or lease a new Subaru vehicle to name one of 4 national charities to receive a $250 donation from the dealer. Dealers also donate at least $50 to their local “hometown charity” which they designate. FLCM has received several thousand dollars over the last few years we have participated through Meals on Wheels America. That means more free homestyle meals showing up at low-income neighbors’ doors in Greenfield and Greater Hazelwood without worry when they are too frail to cook for themselves. So thank you to local dealers Baierl Subaru, Subaru of South Hills, Bowser Subaru and other PA retailers who share revenue into the pool and thank you Subaru of America, Inc.

This video explains the Subaru of America, Inc. event, which allows purchasers of a new or leased Subaru vehicle to designate the dealer’s donation to one of 4 national charities, one of which is Meals on Wheels America. Those donations are then passed along to participating local organizations like us! In previous years FLCM has received 3,000 or more from this revenue share. Thank you Subaru!

Thanks to Greenfield Community Association for publicizing our nonperishable groceries “stuff the trunk” for Friday’s 7pm Holiday Parade along Greenfield Ave. Look for our parade vehicle and Fishes banner if you are watching the parade and have something you can donate to our emergency food program. We look forward to carrying on this tradition! I’s great to see Greenfield Baseball Association collecting unwrapped toys, as well. See you at the parade!

This please help put more food on more plates for our neighbors in Greenfield and Hazelwood with a donation to Fishes & Loaves Cooperative Ministries. Donations go directly to purchasing more food. In operation since 2011 we currently distribute around 50,000 meals/lbs of food yearly.
Our office and lunch program and fridge are located at 131 E. Elizabeth St. in Hazelwood. We are so very grateful for the funding provided through Subaru of America, Inc.’s partnership with Meals on Wheels America to local providers of home delivered meals, like ourselves. It helps keep homestyle meals and a bagged lunch free to low income seniors in Hazelwood and Greenfield 5 days a week! We provide 50-60 deliveries a day. While food prices remain high and the Food Bank remains in extra high demand the extra funding we receive through is more important than ever.
Know anyone shopping to buy or Lease a ? Through January 2nd they can ask their dealer to direct a donation to Meals On Wheels.

The Hazelwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh is a food desert. We serve this area several surrounding neighborhoods by providing food programs, such as Hazelwood-Greenfield Meals on Wheels and Community Lunches on Monday through Friday.
