✨ 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝘼𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙩! ✨ Grady was more than just a Summer Intern--he was a Summer Intern Extraordinaire! No matter the task, he willingly gave us his time and talent above and beyond our expectations.

We know you've seen him around town, because he's been all-hands-on-deck with us since May, helping us launch the PLC Mix & Mingle and Summit, working tabling events with us in the community, visiting schools to lend a hand with summer planning, and so much more.

Help us give him a big round of THANKS!! 👏👏👏 He Showed Up so kids can too, and we're so grateful.

Something big is in the works at Pittsburgh Morrow PreK-8!! 🧥🎒🧤👟🍎 Today we set up the infrastructure to build out a Morrow Mustangs Resource Room and Food Pantry!

As school gets underway, the Resource Room will be a space where students can get shoes, a coat, a clean uniform, and hygiene products, and the Food Pantry will allow school staff to offer food to families through the year.

Progress is real, but the work is far from over. New reporting shows Pittsburgh Public Schools has reduced chronic absenteeism by 15% since the height of the pandemic — yet 32% of students are still missing 18+ days of school a year.

A+ Schools is proud to be one of the community partners going door-to-door to help families clear the barriers — transportation, housing, basic needs — that keep kids out of the classroom. As Assistant Superintendent Dr. Melissa Pearlman put it: "If you are not in school, you cannot be successful as a learner." We couldn't agree more, and we're not slowing down.

Yesterday had it all ☀️ Hugs, laughter, back-to-school excitement, and FUN!! Huge thanks to the Hilltop Empowerment Collective for hosting this amazing Spray Park Family Fun Day for kiddos and their families!

We loved seeing Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-8 students get so excited to see Ms. Caldwell, Mr. Dreger, and Ms. Gill. We loved seeing all of the community partners mix and mingle with each other and all the families. We loved seeing so (so, so) many smiles all day long!

If this doesn't get you excited for Back to School, we don't know what will 😎

This event is FREE for rising kindergarten students plus one accompanying caregiver.

Additional family members can purchase discounted admission at $8 per person.

Children under age two are free every day.

The A+ team is hard at work gathering school supplies and packing backpacks for our annual door knocking effort to visit students and give them supplies and get them excited about a new school year.

We are in need of volunteers to make it happen! This year we will be supporting Pittsburgh Morrow PreK-8, Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-8, Pittsburgh Miller PreK-5, An African-Centered Academy & Perry Traditional Academy/Perry High School in their student outreach. Are you able to volunteer to help? All volunteers will be provided with training and will go out in small groups.
