PCA&M's mission is to support artists and advance artistic excellence in the visual arts.

PCA&M's mission is to promote and support the arts and artists in our local and regional area of southwestern PA and Pittsburgh proper. We're a community-based institution that offers a wide range of visual arts courses, artist led workshops, artist residency in partnership with public schools, access to equipment and studio space, and exhibition programs. Annually PCA&M serves thousands of individuals from a wide range of ages.

Our annual yART Sale is tomorrow!

There’s so much to see and do! We put together this quick guide to make sure you yART like a pro!

- Shop from the 40 artists who will be selling during the market! There’s going to be so many great deals, so be sure to arrive early so you get the good stuff!

- Pick up some ceramic seconds by our raku pavilion! There might be some chips and cracks, but they’re perfect to display and hold things that aren’t liquids!

- Stop by and learn about the non-profits who will be tabling with us throughout the day!

- Treat yourself to something cold from Two Frays Brewery? What’s better than a cold beer in the lawn on a summer day?

- Grab a snack from Hummus Pittsburgh! All that shopping is bound to work up an appetite!

- Shop from more local artists in our shop! There might even be some special deals on PCAM swag for the day!

- Take a look through our studios and see where the magic happens! There might even be some demos in select studios!

- View our 6th Annual Member & Student Exhibition + 80 Years of Arts Education! Take a trip down memory lane and see what we’ve been up to over the past 8 decades

- Visit Almost Gallery’s pop-up exhibition in our 2D studio! It’s on view for only one day only and shouldn’t be missed!

Meet Karie Luidens!

Karie is a multimedia artist who specializes in painting and textile work. She has been an associate member since 2025.

What Karie enjoys about her membership:

“PCA&M kickstarted my creativity after a long hiatus. I studied painting in college, but I set aside my artistic practice for years afterward to focus on other pursuits. Eventually I felt too rusty to pick up a paintbrush. The teachers have helped me brush up my rusty painting skills and introduced me to entirely new mediums like digital illustration Classes at PCA&M offered the perfect combination of direction, inspiration, and community to get me back into the flow. I've been exploring new mediums ever since! Perhaps more importantly, they’ve created a supportive environment for people to experiment, have fun, and build community.

The annual Member & Student Exhibitions are such a delight. Each year, I’m impressed by the vibrant mix of mediums and visions that fill the space. You just know that some participants are showing their work for the very first time, right alongside old pros who’ve been making art for decades. Yet the curation brings everything together beautifully. It’s a true celebration of art for all.”

Additionally, we're excited to host Almost Gallery in our annex for their pop-up exhibition "Threadbearers"!

Help PCA&M celebrate 80 years of arts education!

In 1945, a cooperative of artist guilds began what was then called the Arts and Crafts Center of Pittsburgh, which planted the seeds of what is now known at Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media.

The Arts and Crafts Center evolved into a larger arts campus with the addition of the Scaife House in 1946. Educational classes and workshops in a wide variety of artistic mediums have been the continuous thread through the years and what the Center became most known for. In our latest incarnation of what began to take shape in 1946, our arts education program is stronger than ever and serves over 3000 students annually.

To celebrate 80 years, PCA&M is featuring ephemera from their historical archives in-part with their 6th Annual Member & Student exhibition, which highlights the talents and creativity of the organization’s members and students throughout a summer-long exhibition.

With this year’s exhibition, we not only recognize legacy as something from the past viewed in the present, but as something on-going, that an entire community has the ability to contribute to.
