Today is International Day of the Girl, and we're celebrating girls who are brilliant, bold, and already leading.

The conversations the nation has been having lately are a reminder of why this work matters. Every girl and woman who comes forward deserves to be believed without having to push this hard.

At Girls Inc. of Greater Pittsburgh, we create spaces where girls can grow, feel safe, and know their voices matter. Our job, and yours, is to make sure the adults and institutions around them listen. We'd love to see every community build spaces like these.
Stand with girls. Believe them. Protect them.

Voter Education Week is a great time to make a plan for how you will participate in the upcoming election. Visit vote.pa.gov to check your registration, find your polling place, request a mail-in ballot, and find official voting information. Your voice matters.

At Girls Inc. of Greater Pittsburgh, our programs give girls space to grow through STEM, healthy living, leadership, financial literacy, mentorship, and more. We are proud to create experiences that help girls feel confident in who they are and excited about who they can become.

We are excited to be featured in the October issue of Pittsburgh Parent! In “How Girls Can Practice Confidence,” writer Carrie Woodard highlights how Girls Inc. of Greater Pittsburgh creates spaces where girls can build confidence, find their voice and see themselves as leaders. From mentorship and college exploration to STEM and summer programming, our goal is to give girls opportunities to practice confidence in an environment where they are encouraged to lead, ask questions and belong.

More than 100 mentors, presenters, and community members came together for a full day of learning, connection, and professional development at our 2026 Mentor Summit! Throughout the day, mentors built new skills and explored how they can continue showing up for the girls they support. We learned about cultural humility with Monica Frazier, heard from our community panel, and explored advocacy opportunities with University of Pittsburgh Chapter Director Divya Tase. Dollar Bank also joined us for a session on savings and budgeting to help strengthen our mentors’ financial literacy. Looking for a way to get involved in Pittsburgh? Girls Inc. of Greater Pittsburgh is looking for women to support our college students and program participants through mentorship and service!

Register to become a Strong Leader using the link in our bio. Everyone is required to upload clearances to sign up.

Orientation for new leaders will be held virtually Tuesday, Sept 22 (12–1 PM) OR Wednesday, Sept 30 (5–6 PM). An In-Person session will be Wednesday, Sept 23 (5–6 PM) at the Girls Inc. office (1620 Murray Ave).

Be sure to register by September 30, 2026 to be matched for 1-on-1 Fall 2026 mentoring!
