It’s been a hectic and rewarding season at GlobalPittsburgh! We had the privilege of welcoming 31 international fellows and delegates from every corner of the world through U.S. Department of State–sponsored and other international exchange programs.

Throughout their time in Pittsburgh, participants explored the region’s innovation, culture, and community spirit, gaining valuable professional insights while sharing their own expertise and perspectives.

A heartfelt thank you to all our professional host organizations, community partners, and host families who opened their doors, shared their knowledge, and made our visitors feel at home. Your generosity and engagement embody the best of Pittsburgh’s welcoming spirit.

Students in grades 3–12 are invited to share their perspectives through writing or artwork for a chance to win an unforgettable field trip to iconic historic and cultural landmarks!

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, 250 students will be awarded behind-the-scenes experiences or cash prizes this summer.

🌍 Host an International Dinner Experience!

GlobalPittsburgh is currently hosting 13 incredible fellows from Lebanon, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco — mid-career professionals and entrepreneurs who are contributing their talents to local Pittsburgh organizations while learning about American culture and innovation.

To help them experience the warmth of our community, we’re arranging home hospitality dinners with local families. If you’d like to welcome 3–4 fellows for dinner on Wednesday, October 15, please let us know! If another date works better, we’re happy to check their availability.

This is a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange and friendship, and a meaningful way to make our guests feel at home here in Pittsburgh. Fellows would greatly appreciate a halal meal or a fish/vegetarian option.

Last night, GlobalPittsburgh hosted a Global Intersector Networking Event bringing together 21 inspiring fellows from three Professional Fellowship Programs — and their Pittsburgh host organizations.

These accomplished fellows hail from Slovakia, Greece, Iceland, Armenia, Morocco, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Malaysia. Over the coming weeks, they’ll share their expertise and fresh perspectives while learning from Pittsburgh’s innovation ecosystem.

🌍Aug. 28 – Sept. 3, in partnership with Meridian International Center, GlobalPittsburgh welcomed an amazing group of educators from Hungary, Montenegro & Lithuania through the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) project "Curriculum Development and Student Support in Higher Education!

During their time in Pittsburgh, they:
📚 Met with the Center for Global Engagement (Duquesne - International Student Services), Carnegie Mellon University & the University of Pittsburgh to learn how U.S. campuses support international students
🤝 Volunteered at The Education Partnership, helping get supplies to local classrooms
🏡 Enjoyed home hospitality with a Pittsburgh family on Labor Day
🌆 Explored our city and experienced the best of Pittsburgh’s culture & community

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for SOLD OUT Tango Velvet and made the evening unforgettable. We’re deeply grateful to Refucilo Wine for the warm welcome, and to our performer Ada Lis Jimena for sharing her incredible talent and passion. And of course, thanks to all who came ready to savor empanadas, sip wine, and let the music carry them away.
