Earlier this week, GlobalPittsburgh hosted a group from Estonia as part of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), “U.S. Approaches to Develop AI to Accelerate Scientific Discovery.”
From September 17–22, ten Estonian leaders in artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, academia, government, and industry explored how the United States is using AI and emerging technologies to advance scientific discovery and innovation.
During their time in Pittsburgh, the delegation:
🔹 Joined the AI Horizons Pittsburgh Summit, exploring Physical AI, robotics, energy, and the future of intelligent industry
🔹 Met with researchers and leaders at West Virginia University to learn about AI, data science, interdisciplinary research, and technology commercialization
🔹 Visited the Pittsburgh Quantum Institute to discuss quantum information science and its intersection with AI and high-performance computing
🔹 Connected with the Pittsburgh Technology Council about regional innovation, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and public-private partnerships
🔹 Visited Carnegie Mellon University to learn about AI systems and the university’s approach to developing emerging technologies
🔹 Experienced Pittsburgh beyond the meeting rooms, with time to explore the city and connect with local host families through Dinner Diplomacy
