After you drop your aluminum cans from the drive through, this is their next destination: the baler! 👷 This conveyor belt will move the material into a hopper before being compressed. 💪 It's also one of the loudest processes we do at the recycling center! (Except glass crushing... that's the loudest by far! 🫨)

Starting a brand new recycling habit can feel intimidating. That's a huge change if you go from never recycling to perfectly recycling right away! 😬 However, the best way to start a habit is to start small. ⭐
Pick one category of materials to start with. Once that's second nature, it'll make expanding your focus easier and keep your new habit intact. ♻📦

What an impressive community feat! Huge thank you to all the volunteers that showed up and made the recycling happen. ♻

72,000 pounds.

That's how much cardboard Alaska State Fair attendees and vendors recycled this year, topping last year's total by more than 7,000 pounds.

Alaska Waste is proud to donate the dumpster space that helps make this annual recycling effort possible. Together, fairgoers, vendors, volunteers and event staff helped keep tens of thousands of pounds of valuable material out of the landfill and on its way to recycling.

Thank you to the Alaska State Fair , Crowley Fuels Alaska, Valley Community for Recycling Solutions, and everyone who helped make this year's recycling effort a success!

You can also nab a large load of compost into your truck or trailer for just $12.
🌲🌳🍃 This compost is fully cured from last season's yard waste and brush pile at the landfill.
