Buying your hunting license isn't the only way you can contribute to conservation.
You have your license, now put it to great use when you harvest game; save those wings and heads and turn them in.

Give a hoot for small game research? Send us a wing!

Grouse and Ptarmigan Hunters: research depends on your contribution. Please send samples from your harvested grouse and ptarmigan to ADF&G’s Wing Collection Program. These samples allow biologists to better understand s*x and age structure of the harvest, which is important for managing these valuable resources.

Postage paid wing and tail collection envelopes are available at local ADF&G offices. You can also record date and location of harvest, place the wing in an individual bag, and drop it off at your local ADF&G office or mail it to either Palmer or Fairbanks ADFG offices.

To our members,
The Invitational is our greatest testing event each year. An opportunity for us to make special memories and connections alongside our four-legged companions. A chance to prove the skill and passion that was built throughout the journey to get to this point.
As a nonprofit organization, we depend heavily on volunteers to make this event possible. Unfortunately, we still have not met our minimum fulfillment for roles to operate the test and time is running thin.

This post is a call to action. If you are able to contribute even one day (during September 24-26), it would be a tremendous help. Every single volunteer is critical towards our success.
Thank you to the 57 individuals who have already signed up!

Below is a list of 38 vacant roles that still need to be filled. There are more openings beyond this list, but this is our absolute amount to ensure the test will run.

Thursday (9/24)
Missing: 1 Field Marshal, 5 Gunners, 1 Bird Planter, 2 Backup Wingers at Double Mark

Friday (9/25)
Missing: 2 Field Marshals, 7 Gunners, 1 Backup Winger at Honor

Saturday (9/26)
Missing: 2 Field Marshals, 6 Gunners, 5 Bird Planters, 1 Winger & 2 Backup Wingers at Double Mark, 1 Assistant Water Marshal at Blind, 1 Backup Winger at Honor, 1 Duck Handler at Blind

And that's a wrap! The final day of the 2026 AK-Yukon NAVHDA summer test. Another beautiful day to be out there watching all the training we've put in come together.
And... with several of our board members (all volunteers themselves) getting pulled away with life events we offer another humongous shout-out and debt of gratitude to all of our volunteers and helping hands that made this a success.
Thank you and Happy Hunting! Go give those pups some extra love for all the hard work too.

Day 1 is in the books! One more to go and boy are we excited. It was a great Alaskan summer day to kick off the Ak-Yukon NAVHDA summer test weekend.
A huge shout out and thanks to all the volunteers that came together to help make this a great day in the fields.
