✨ WELCOME TO A VERY SPECIAL SHABBAT ✨

This Shabbat is filled with meaning and inspiration as we prepare for the upcoming holiday of the receiving of the Torah β€” the holiday of Shavuot β€” and begin a new book of the Torah, the Book of Numbers.

This Shabbat is also part of a historic and unprecedented national recognition in honor of 250 years of the United States of America, with encouragement for Jewish people across the country and around the to observe and celebrate the beauty and holiness of Shabbat.

For generations, Jews fought for the freedom simply to keep Shabbat. Today, not only are we blessed to live in a country where we are free to observe Shabbat openly, but we are even being encouraged to reconnect with our roots, appreciate the gift of Shabbat, and experience its beauty, peace, family connection, spirituality, and meaning from sundown Friday until Saturday night.

Join us this Shabbat at the Chabad Mat-Su Jewish Center!

πŸ• Shabbat Services β€” 10:30 AM
πŸ“– Torah Class & Discussion β€” 11:30 AM

This week’s intriguing discussion:

🌾 WHY IS COUNTING THE OMER THE LONGEST CONTINUOUS MITZVAH IN THE TORAH? 🌾
What is the secret behind counting forty-nine consecutive days between Passover and Shavuot? Why doesn’t the Torah simply take us from freedom to the Giving of the Torah immediately?

Discover the powerful message of the Omer and how the journey from Egypt to Mount Sinai teaches us the secret of real personal growth, lasting transformation, and step-by-step spiritual change.

πŸ•― Jewish women and girls brighten the world by lighting Shabbat candles today in Palmer, Alaska, between 9:00 PM–10:24 PM.

Wishing you all a beautiful and peaceful Shabbat Shalom!

πŸ”₯ Official Video Released: Fireside Chat – Building a Better World πŸ”₯

We’re excited to share the official edited recording of our special community Fireside Chat with Rabbi Simon Jacobson – Building a Better World held in the Mat-Su Valley of Alaska.

This meaningful conversation features Rabbi Simon Jacobson, renowned speaker and best-selling author of Toward a Meaningful Life, sharing powerful insights rooted in the timeless teachings of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson β€” global spiritual leader and one of the most influential Jewish sages of modern times. His teachings continue to inspire millions around the world and guide us in living with purpose, responsibility, and clarity.

The event took place on April 27, 2026, in honor of Education & Sharing Day, marking the 124th birthday of the Rebbe, and highlighting his enduring impact on education, leadership, and improving the world around us.

The discussion was moderated by Michelle Overstreet, CEO & Founder of My House, a Mat-Su nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth and young adults experiencing homelessness. Together, the conversation explored themes of purpose, education, values, leadership, and how each of us can take part in building a better world.

Recorded live at the Palmer Train Depot in Palmer, this event was hosted by the Mat-Su Jewish Center Chabad, in partnership with community organizations committed to strengthening and uplifting the Mat-Su Valley.
