Presenting one of our longest running farm friend group: ๐—๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ป, ๐—œ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜€, and ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜† in honor of National Best Friend's Day

As a "prey animal", musk oxen find great comfort and safety in numbers and will even form a "herd circle" when a potential predator is nearby.
Having two friends to always watch your back is an ๐—ผ๐˜…some thing.

Whether all-together or in duo side-quests,
this female friend group, lovingly nicknamed "๐—๐—œ๐— " by farm staff, are often seen together in the Old Ladies group (look toward the hill pasture at your next visit).

An intern began her calf check,
hoping to find the newest.
As she walked, she stretched her neck,
glancing towards Amethyst.

The intern whipped her phone out
and pressed it to her ear.
"Alyssa!" she began to shout,
"Calf five is almost here!"

The calf arrived in the morning
on a breezy, sunny day.
Her mom began her cleaning

"Shedding musk ox are ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜ pregnant." That's what the musk ox lore suggested, that is what was ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ฏ.

Acadia ruminated on this โ€œfactโ€ she also knew and gave a little scratch to her belly. Shedding qiviut is itchy work, and she had been โ€œworkingโ€ hard for over a week now.
With shedded qiviut drooping from her shoulders and around her eyes, she scratched herself on a tree stump and tried to urge the shed along.

The farmer went home for the day, exhausted yet happy to have 3 calves already on the farm, all while ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ the โ€œfactโ€ that โ€œshedding musk ox are ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜ pregnant.โ€
Moments after her head hit her pillow, the farmer was jolted from her rest by her phone. Acadia had given birth!
โ€œYou must be mistaken! It must be a different cow!โ€ she proclaimed, while racing back to the farm. But although she ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ธ โ€œshedding musk ox are ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜ pregnantโ€ when she arrived back to the chutes, Acadia was cleaning and comforting a newborn calf.
So thus is the "fable" of what we think we know about musk oxen: you may ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ nature, but youโ€™ll never really ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ nature.
