As a ministry of Jesus Christ, Agape’s mission is that vulnerable and orphaned children find permanency in safe, nurturing families. This mission has led Christians using Agape to serve more than 2,000 children through foster care, and more than 250 children through the permanency of a Christian adoptive family. Hundreds of pregnant women in crisis have been counseled by Agape staff to choose life for their unborn child, and to make the best choice for their future and the baby’s future. Agape is a non-profit 501(c)3 agency whose staff and board are all faithful Christians. There are staff members located in Montgomery, Birmingham and Enterprise. The majority of Agape’s funding is provided through donations from churches and individual Christians, with no client ever being turned away because of their inability to pay for a service. Agape maintains positive and supportive relationships with the Alabama Department of Human Resources and other professional agencies serving children and families. The only real limit on Agape’s ability to serve is the number of churches and individual Christians who step forward to involve themselves in the lives of the hurting children, the vulnerable young women who are pregnant, and the burdened families.

Fall is one of our favorite times of year, and it’s a busy season at Agape!

In October, thirty teams came out for our tenth Pulling for Kids Clay Shoot, we opened our annual pecan sale, and Steve spent Sunday mornings with churches across the state.

While those things were happening, our services staff were placing children in foster care with families and walking with expectant moms through some of the hardest seasons of their lives.

Our staff shows up faithfully, and every event helps support that mission of sharing Christ’s love through care for children and families.

Snakes, chickens, and lizards, oh my!

We had a foster family event on Sunday afternoon, and the kids jumped right in. We loved seeing our foster families, and some of our staff connecting with each other and having fun.

A huge thank you to Cahaba Critters: A Nonprofit Farm for having us and giving our families such a fun afternoon.

Most people think caring for a child with medical needs takes a nurse or special training, so they assume it’s not something a family like theirs could do.

What they don’t realize is that families with no medical background can say yes to these children, because Agape trains and equips them for it. They’ll also tell you that opening their home impacted their own lives as much as the child’s.

We had our tenth annual Pulling for Kids Clay Shoot presented by C Spire yesterday, and it’s grown into one of our favorite days of the year!

Teams spent the morning at Selwood Farm shooting clays and enjoying a little friendly competition.
