Learning for Justice is a community-focused education program of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) that cultivates and nurtures dialogue, learning, reflection and action from those most proximate to and impacted by injustices in the South. The program seeks to uphold the mission of the Southern Poverty Law Center: to be a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partner

On May 31, 1921, white supremacist terrorists attacked the Greenwood community in Tulsa, Oklahoma, killing hundreds of Black residents and burning homes. For too long, the history of this and other acts of racist terror across the United States was intentionally kept quiet. We urge learning and teaching the truth about Tulsa and other hard histories.

Today, we are reminded of the organized efforts to recover that history and demand reckoning and remembrance.
