Alabama Scenic River Trail The Alabama Scenic River Trail promotes a network of 6,300+ miles of Alabama water trails and paddling in AL. The Alabama Scenic River Trail, Inc.

We're also named for & maintain the longest National Water Recreation Trail! (ASRT) is a nonprofit working to build community development efforts centered on water recreation and tourism in Alabama. ASRT emphasizes all of Alabama’s navigable waterways by sharing unique opportunities, resources, and educational content with all levels of the public. The historic trail for which we are named runs from the Alabama-Georgia state line to the Gulf of Mexico—from mountain streams and multi-class whitewater to river delta and the salty waves of Mobile Bay. The Great AL650, our annual paddle race, is held each fall bringing in professional paddlers from around the globe. Join with us as we celebrate the network of more than 132,000 miles of rivers and streams that make up Alabama.

Unfortunately, due to the predicted hurricane and conditions expected in the Mobile Bay Area and throughout the course, a decision was made to end the 2026 Great Alabama 650. Based on numerous conversations with the National Weather Service and anticipated disruption to infrastructure, the difficult but necessary decision had to be made in an effort to keep all racers, crew, staff, and volunteers safe.

While this is heartbreaking for our racers and fans, the AL650 and the ASRT staff prioritize the safety of everyone involved with the race. We celebrate the commitment and dedication of our racers, staff, and crew, and send our thoughts to those in the path of the storm.

We also want to thank our sponsors and partners for their continued support. We were grateful to see the immense community involvement this year, and look forward to next year’s race. We hope to share more highlights in the coming days.
