After a full day of work, training and visiting various job sites, Jim Gaillard, Vice President /master electrician at Ezekiel HOPE, kept his commitment with ABC of Wisconsin’s Construction Inclusion Committee by attending a moderated panel discussion focused on workforce recruitment, retention, career development, and overcoming barriers to employment. The event, held on October 13, was presented to strengthen connections between ABC members and community-based organizations like Ezekiel HOPE.

New skilled trades study focused on worker shortages.

A new report released today by the Alliance for America's Skilled Trades finds the U.S. will need to fill an estimated 1.7 million skilled trades openings each year through 2035, while training programs produce just 55 workers for every 100 needed.

Our future is looking brighter in the skilled trades. Ezekiel HOPE was one of 60 vendors participating in MPS’ Skilled Trades & Technical Career Fair today! Hosted by Milwaukee Tool, it was exciting to see and engage with the 718 students who attended to explore skilled trades career options!

Training for the future: acquiring skills of the trades...Jim Gaillard, VP/master electrician at Ezekiel HOPE spent the day showing our fall cohort how to plan an electrical job, fish wires in the wall and install a subpanel on the second floor for more hands-on training.

Photo dump: Saturday was a beautiful day in the Amani neighborhood… block cleanup, community partners and resources, face painting, food (some handpicked from Ezekiel’s backyard garden) and great fellowship! A good time was had!

Now that they have received their high visibility shirts, tools (courtesy of Home Depot) and steel-toed boots, our fall cohort of 13 trainees, are receiving OSHA-10 safety training, to get ready for on-site, on-the-job training.
