The National Academy of Medicine report on Temporomandibular Disorders was a landmark effort to bring together the scientific evidence, identify critical gaps in research and care, and establish priorities for moving the field forward.

Importantly, the report recognized the essential role of patients and their lived experiences in shaping research and improving care. Patients can help guide better research, treatments, and outcomes.

Facial Pain Registry Data Discovery: 29% of participants report their pain began shortly after a dental procedure.

We asked participants whether a specific event preceded an episode of facial pain. Dental procedures were the most frequently reported, cited by 29% of respondents.
