Silver Spring Neighborhood Center is a nonprofit organization with a mission to build a safer, stronger neighborhood and community by helping more than 8,000 individuals and families towards self-sufficiency each year. For more than half a century, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center has had a proven track record of delivering high-quality programming. Silver Spring successfully offers core programs - from prenatal care coordination to child development, to youth and teen programs to adult and senior programs - in one facility. Our Elaine Schreiber Child Development Center serves children from six weeks to 12 years using best practices in Early Childhood Education and before and after school care. The Adult Services program provides employment assistance through the Transform Milwaukee Jobs Program. We also offer GED Preparation, Basic Skills and English as a Second Language (ESL classes) through Literacy Services of WI.

Our teens recently participated in a Saving Them Workshop through our partnership with Saving Her, where they were provided a safe space to discuss healthy relationships, self-care, and what it means to maintain healthy connections with themselves and others. Through engaging discussions and creative skits, participants explored important life skills while building confidence and awareness. Introducing College Tour '26 — presented by GLOW, in partnership with TTA.

Our inaugural Wisconsin systems college tour gives young women the chance to walk real campuses, meet admissions advisors, sit in on financial aid sessions, and finally see their future instead of just imagining it.

This tour is one piece of a bigger mission — our Three Pillars of Growth:

🔹 Groups — twice-monthly peer sessions (virtual + in-person) to build community and coping skills
🔹 Transitional Living — a safe home base for young women building independence, life skills, and mentorship
🔹 College Tour — campus visits, advisor access, and a real vision of what's possible

We would love to extend a huge THANK YOU to Dr. Marissa Jablonski, Executive Director of the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin who took time out of her day to teach our school-age students! 💧💧💧 They were able to learn about water filtration, Milwaukee, and the Great Lakes watershed from an EXPERT! They ended the lesson by creating water filtration systems of their own!

I took the time to check out Coffee on Spring, and I'm so glad I did. I enjoyed a delicious Hazelnut Latte, with friendly, courteous service in a warm, welcoming environment. They rent out their cozy space for small events or meetings. Go check them out. Coffee on Spring. Local to the city. Local to the Neighborhood.
