It’s TRUE! History was made. County Executive David Crowley officially proclaimed June 6th
as DJ Day!

“ Executive Proclamation

WHEREAS, the heartbeat of Milwaukee’s vibrant culture is sustained by the dedication and passion of our local DJs, whose rhythm, artistry, and spirit keep our city alive and thriving; and

WHEREAS, these talented individuals devote countless hours—at weddings, birthdays, ball games, festivals, neighborhood gatherings, and community celebrations of every kind—to ensuring that Milwaukee’s energy never fades and that each moment is made memorable through music; and

WHEREAS, their unwavering commitment and creative excellence provide the soundtrack to our city’s most cherished experiences, uniting residents and visitors alike through shared rhythms, joy, and community spirit; and

WHEREAS, Milwaukee’s DJs continuously give themselves to uplift our neighborhoods, energize our events, and help our city dance to its own unique beat, enriching the cultural fabric that defines who we are; now, therefore

I, DAVID CROWLEY, County Executive of Milwaukee County, do hereby proclaim June 6, 2026, to be
Milwaukee DJ Day throughout Milwaukee County and encourage all residents to honor and celebrate the DJs whose passion, dedication, and artistry form the musical soul of our community.”

First and foremost—THANK YOU.
We have officially closed the artist applications for our 2026 Juneteenth Arts & Culture Zone, and the response was absolutely overwhelming! We are seeing so many fresh faces, legendary local creators, and hungry new artists getting engaged. Sooo much dope creativity happening in our city!!! &
Don’t worry if you didn’t make it in this year. Everyone won’t be selected. Everyone won’t go home top three cash prizes, but trust we all are WINNING TOGETHER .!! AND WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR THIS YEAR!!
our mission is to uplift creativity —and that’s exactly what we plan to do!!! 💯✍🏽 This year’s theme, “Honoring the Past, Empowering the Future,” is going to be visually brought to life by some of the absolute best and YOU GET TO WATCH LIVE starting 9 AM at Juneteenth. Our Arts + culture zone is near the corner of King and Ring. 🫟

Last week’s two-day Milwaukee Justice Strategy Blitz brought together community members to discuss how neighborhoods can bounce back from flooding, prepare for future emergencies, shape public policy and demand solutions from leaders.

The group of attendees developed shared priorities and brainstormed actions through facilitated discussion, storytelling and other interactive activities.

Residents from North and South Side neighborhoods who were directly impacted by flooding in August and April shared personal stories about leaving their homes for months, paying out of pocket for repairs and having to advocate for themselves to get access to resources.

Spread the word to share art and poetry inspired by water for a public showcase at our annual We Are Water event on August 16 at McKinley Beach.

All K-12 students are encouraged to put their creativity on display.

Earlier this year, we came from across the city locked in at our annual retreat to build the infrastructure and understanding for what’s next. This is BTS of us collectively creating a year-round ecosystem of opportunity for our youth and families that we all serve. TOGETHER. We have learned so much!! Summer is almost here , are YOU excited?!
