Members of Arkansas State Police Troop E and the Troop E Spouses' Auxiliary took part in the 3rd Annual Wear Orange Day event in Pine Bluff in support of National Gun Violence Awareness Month.
Hosted by the Pine Bluff Group Violence Intervention (GVI) Program, the event brought community members, organizations, and public safety partners together to raise awareness, promote unity, and support efforts aimed at reducing gun violence.
We are proud to support initiatives that encourage safer neighborhoods for all Arkansans.

Today, 12 recruits graduated from the Joint Police Academy after 21 weeks of intensive training. Representing the North Little Rock, Sherwood, and Jacksonville Police Departments, they took their Oaths of Office and received their badges, officially beginning their careers in law enforcement.
We are proud of their commitment to serving their communities with integrity, courage, and compassion. Thank you to the family and friends whose support helped make this achievement possible.

This 4 week program is exclusively designed to provide first and second line supervisors with the fundamental skills they will need to become effective managers over the span of their careers. Experts in their profession provide instruction and facilitate group activities over the span of this course. Please join us in congratulating Corporal Rudajs on receiving the Life Saving Award for his actions while serving with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Corporal Rudajs responded to a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and immediately took lifesaving action by applying two tourniquets to control the severe bleeding until additional medical help arrived. His quick thinking, training, and calm response under pressure directly contributed to the saving of the victim’s life.
We are proud to have Corporal Rudajs serving with the Fayetteville Police Department and commend him for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to protecting others. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.

Fayetteville Arkansas Police Department
After more than 23 years of service with the Fayetteville Police Department and over 27 years of military service, Sergeant Christopher L. Scherrey is retiring from a career dedicated to leadership, professionalism, and service to others.
During his time with FPD, Sgt. Scherrey served in the Office of Professional Standards and held supervisory assignments in patrol, school resource operations, and departmental leadership. Throughout his career, he brought experience in investigations, crisis management, legal application, and operational leadership to every role he held.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Sgt. Scherrey proudly served in both the U.S. Army and the Arkansas Army National Guard. His military service included two deployments to Iraq with the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and a peacekeeping mission to the Sinai Peninsula with the Multinational Force and Observers. Over the course of his military career, he served in numerous command and staff leadership positions, including Information Operations Officer, Brigade S-3/Operations Officer, and Brigade Provost Marshal.
Beyond the uniform, Sgt. Scherrey is most proud of being a father to Ethan, Ayden, and Logan. As he begins this next chapter, we thank him for his years of dedication and sacrifice to both his community and his country.
Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Christopher Scherrey on his retirement and wishing him and his family the very best in the years ahead.
