Huntersville Police Department
With the 2025-26 school year recently wrapping up, we want to offer a huge ‘thank-you’ to our nine School Resource Officers for their incredible work. 👏🏫💙
Serving as an SRO is one of the most challenging and underrated assignments in our department. On any given day, they may be called upon to be a law enforcement officer, mentor, counselor, mediator, educator, role model, or simply a trusted adult who is there to listen. That level of versatility requires tremendous emotional intelligence, patience, professionalism, and the ability to connect with students at every stage of development.
Thank you for the positive impact you make in our schools and in the lives of countless students, staff members, and families. We appreciate all you do! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️🍎✨

Selflessness on full display here. After completing a transport to the Pitt County Jail, and while still in Pitt County, transportation officer, K. Mayo, of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, stopped and changed the tire of a distressed motorist. No obligations, just a good officer with great character. Thank you Officer K. Mayo for being a great representation of this office.

Gaston County Police
The Gaston County Police Department announces the retirement of Detective John Kaiser. We would like to thank him for his service to our community and department for more than a decade, as well his overall dedication in law enforcement for thirty years.
Detective Kaiser joined the Gaston County Police Department in 2014, serving on Patrol before transitioning into our Crime Scene Unit within the Criminal Investigations Division in 2016. Over the years, he became a trusted and highly skilled investigator, documenting and processing countless crime scenes with precision and professionalism. Since 2021, he has also served as a valued member of the department's Drone Team, providing critical aerial support to investigations and operations.
John has never been one to seek recognition. In fact, he is usually the person behind the camera rather than in front of it. Known for his quiet professionalism, strong work ethic, and attention to detail, he has consistently let his work speak for itself. Whether processing evidence, documenting scenes, or supporting fellow officers, John approached every assignment with dedication, humility, and a commitment to excellence.
His contributions have strengthened investigations, supported victims, and helped ensure justice was served throughout Gaston County. While much of his work took place behind the scenes, the impact of his service has been felt across the department and throughout the community.
"John has been a true role model and inspiration throughout my career, and his mentorship has helped shape me both personally and professionally. His extensive knowledge, experience, and dedication have made him an invaluable asset to the department. The influence he has had on our team will be felt for years to come, and it has been a privilege to work with him. He will be greatly missed."
Enjoy your well-deserved retirement, Kaiser. Your dependability, calm and professional presence, and hard work will definitely leave a void here at the department. Please join us in congratulating Detective John Kaiser on his retirement!
