As a 501(c)(3) organization, Police Benevolent Foundation is founded for the purpose of addresses four major initiatives. These initiatives include providing financial support to the families and survivors of officers killed in the line of duty, funding scholarships for the well deserving youth, providing assistance to law enforcement personnel during disasters and, funding activities and services in support of law enforcement. Since it was established, the Foundation has been able to raise more than $1M in aid to support law enforcement officer programs, to provide aid to the families of fallen officers, to provide disaster relief for law enforcement officers and to provide scholarships to some well deserving young students. We have the distinction of being able to allocate 100% of our received donations to their intended purposes.

The Police Benevolent Foundation has completed its scholarship selection process. Sixteen students were selected from nine states to receive awards. Jace Young of Chapel Hill, N.C., is one of those recipients. He is attending Guilford College and majoring in criminal justice. The Police Benevolent Foundation recently completed its scholarship selection process. Sixteen students were selected from nine states to receive awards. Ragan Starkey of Crystal Springs, Miss., is one of those recipients. She is attending Mississippi Christian University, majoring in psychology. She plans to work in the field of children’s mental health. Andy Matuszewski, who serves as the president of MSPBA, presents the scholarship check to her. Her proud father, Garrett, looks on.

The Mississippi Police Benevolent Association and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for financial assistance for the family of Deputy Terrian Bailey with the Clairborne County Sheriff’s Office (MS).

On September 7th, Deputy Bailey responded to a disturbance call where a crowd had gathered at a local convenience store following a festival. Deputy Bailey was attempting to disperse the crowd when shots were fired, striking Deputy Bailey and a civilian bystander. Deputy Bailey later died at a local hospital. The civilian survived.

Deputy Bailey served with the Claiborne Sheriff’s Office for six years. He is survived by his wife and children.

The PBA of Georgia and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for financial assistance for the family of Sgt. Chris Fisher with the Warm Springs, GA Police Department.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Sgt. Fisher was shot while finishing up an unrelated traffic stop in the parking lot of the Meriwether Country Inn on Spring Street shortly before midnight on September 1st. The suspect, whom Sgt. Fisher had previously arrested, pulled up next to Sgt. Fisher's patrol car, and fired multiple shots into the vehicle, hitting and killing him. The suspect then fled the scene. Following a Blue Alert being issued by the GBI, the vehicle was later stopped in South Carolina. Whereupon the suspect took his own life.

Sgt. Fisher was a seven-year veteran of law enforcement. He is survived by his wife and two children.
