There is a new way to screen for colorectal cancer: a blood test.

The FDA-approved Shield test looks for colorectal cancer-related changes in DNA circulating in the blood. It is intended for adults 45 and older who are at average risk and due for screening.

This is an important new option—especially for people who might otherwise avoid screening—but it is not the right test for everyone.

Shield is a laboratory blood test used to screen people for colorectal cancer.
