Colon Cancer Prevention Project

Colon Cancer Prevention Project On a mission to end preventable colon cancer death and suffering. Our work spans education, advocacy, health systems improvement, and survivor support.

We have one goal in mind: eliminating preventable colon cancer death and suffering by making sure people get timely screenings. Our focus is Kentucky and Southern Indiana, where we are the only non-profit focused solely on the fight to end colon cancer. We began kicking butt in Louisville, KY in 2004 and our work has grown to reach throughout the region.

This Mother’s Day, do what your mother taught you to do: ask awkward questions because you care.

Specifically, ask about her butt.

Has she had her colonoscopy? Does she know her family history? Is she ignoring symptoms because she’s too busy taking care of literally everyone else first?

Honestly, moms spent years asking us questions far more invasive than this. Consider it payback.

Buy the flowers. Call your mom. Then gently derail the conversation with preventative healthcare.

Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers with on-time screening.

Throwback to the 2026 Bottoms Up Bash — what a night.

From powerful survivor stories to packed dance floors, generous donors, incredible auction moments, and a community united around prevention, the Bash reminded us exactly why this work matters. Because every dollar raised helps fuel education, advocacy, screening access, and support for patients and families across Kentucky and beyond.

Check out the photos and relive one of our favorite nights of the year. 💙

We need YOU.

Our Colonoscopy Transportation Program is growing fast—and we need volunteers to keep up. Right now, people are missing life-saving screenings because they don’t have a ride. That’s a barrier we can fix together.

If you’ve got a little time and a big heart, this is your moment.

Help us get people to the screenings that can save their lives.

What a night.

The 2026 Bottoms Up Bash was an incredible success—because of you.

We were honored to hear from keynote speaker Carly Brown, whose story inspired so much hope. Diagnosed at just 24—at the start of a new career and a new relationship—hers was not the coming-of-age story she expected. And yet, she showed us all what strength, resilience, and purpose truly look like.

Together, we raised $157,000—surpassing last year’s total by $19,000.

The night was a powerful reminder that this community shows up, leans in, and makes real change happen.

We were blown away when Jim and Marilyn Lehrer doubled their live auction impact—donating not one, but two incredible grill packages for two lucky families. An unforgettable surprise.

And during the BIG GIVE, something truly extraordinary happened—thanks to a $20,000 matching gift from Mike and Jenni Mulrooney of Shirley's Way, generosity surged. You didn’t just meet the goal—you exceeded it, and then it was doubled.

That’s what turning advocacy into action looks like.

Because of you, we will continue to prevent colon cancer, expand access to screening, and save lives.
