What could an affordable mortgage look like for you? 🏠
For Louisville Habitat homebuyers, monthly mortgage payments are calculated to be no more than 28% of gross monthly income, helping keep homeownership affordable over the long term.
For example, with a gross monthly income of $2,800, an estimated affordable mortgage payment could be around $784/month.

Wondering what homeownership could look like for your household? Take the next step at one of our upcoming opportunities:

Last Saturday, the Community Development & Repair (CDR) team hosted a hands-on Weatherization & Insulation morning workshop. Stephen from Blueprint 502 discussed Project Warm (https://blueprint502.org/faqprojectwarm/ ) and instructed individuals on how to use LG&E and KU weatherization kits to properly seal windows, and Sarah and James with Louisville Climate Action Network (LCAN) provided instruction on how to install insulation in your attic.

Both also offered resources and answered questions about general weatherization issues. Every attendee left with an LG&E weatherization kit provided by Project Warm and a packet of instructional materials from LCAN.

During the afternoon session, CDR hosted an Outdoor Holiday Decorations hands-on workshop led by our very own Roger Clark, Construction Project Manager. The participants got hands-on experience and instructions to create one of two wooden holiday decoration options: a snowman or a Christmas tree. Christmas trees were carefully assembled by participants from pre-cut kits using different impact driver techniques while snowmen were attached to posts using impact drivers and carved out of fence posts using jigsaws. Both groups had the option to paint their decorations when they were finished, and all participants left with the decoration they created. During the class, we also projected the Nightmare Before Christmas and provided popcorn for people to enjoy while their decorations dried.

Louisville Habitat is proud to highlight our continued partnership with Lowe's Home Improvement and the incredible impact Lowe’s employees and funding have made in our community.

At this year’s Love Your Neighborhood event in June, Lowe’s employees rolled up their sleeves to help clean siding and gutters, improve landscaping, and install solar lights, handrails, trash corrals, and rain barrels for residents in Louisville Parkland neighborhood.

Through a recently awarded the Lowe’s repair grant, 10 homeowners residing in the Portland neighborhood of West Louisville are also living in safer, more secure homes thanks to three new roofs, four HVAC replacements, one bathroom modification and subfloor replacement, two electrical panel replacements and device updates, and one retaining wall replacement.

That impact includes Joshua, whose collapsing retaining wall had been washed out over time, with twisting timber, popping nails, and snapped screws that ultimately led to code enforcement visits. With support from Lowe’s, Habitat was able to help address a serious safety concern at his home.

Lowe’s continues to show the power of partnership, and we are grateful to work together to build safer homes and stronger neighborhoods across Louisville.

October 8 is DAF Day. If you have a donor advised fund, it's a good day to put it to work close to home.

Right now, one in three Louisville families is experiencing housing insecurity. A grant from your DAF helps a local family build the stability that comes with owning a decent, affordable home, this year and for generations after.

Recommend your grant to Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville today.

Last week was a special moment as we celebrated LaQuisha and the dedication she showed throughout her homebuilding journey, alongside our friends at Ford.

Throughout the build process, LaQuisha faced health challenges with incredible resilience and strength, continuing to work toward her goal of homeownership every step of the way.

We are so proud to celebrate this milestone with LaQuisha and grateful to Ford for supporting her journey and helping make this day possible!
