📣 Call for Volunteers and Community Support!

As Mammaw Sandy's Kitchen enters an exciting new chapter, we're planning a Welcome Back Event to celebrate our mission, reconnect with our community, and share what's next for MSK. We are looking for volunteers, community partners, and supporters who would like to help make this event a success!

We are currently seeking:

🔹 Setup & Breakdown Volunteers
Help us prepare the event space before guests arrive and assist with cleanup afterward.

🔹 Photographer
We're looking for a volunteer photographer to capture special moments throughout the event. Bonus points if you can help create a simple photo booth backdrop for guests!

🔹 Food & Beverage Donors
Businesses, organizations, and individuals interested in donating refreshments, snacks, or beverages for attendees are greatly appreciated.

🔹 T-Shirt Printing Partner
We're seeking a local printer or business willing to print and donate Mammaw Sandy's Kitchen t-shirts to help us promote our mission and celebrate this milestone.

🔷️ Monetary Donations
Help fund our mission and make this event happen! Donate directly to our Zeffy here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/pies-with-a-purpose

Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue creating meaningful opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities through life skills training, education, and community engagement.

This week has reminded us just how powerful community can be.

We are incredibly grateful to every person who has reached out to Mammaw Sandy’s Kitchen to offer your time, talents, services, partnerships, knowledge, advice, and encouragement. Every message, conversation, and act of support has meant more to us than words can express.

Building an inclusive community where individuals with developmental disabilities are empowered through job training, workshops, life skills, and meaningful connection is a mission we believe in deeply. Seeing so many people rally around our vision has given us so much hope for the future.

✨WE’RE BACK✨️

Mammaw Sandy’s Kitchen is entering a new chapter with the same mission at heart: creating meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities through job training, inclusion, and community connection.

As we move into a new community partnership model, we’re excited to collaborate with local churches, organizations, businesses, and supporters who believe everyone deserves a seat at the table.

While we proudly continue to serve Louisville, our new model allows us to partner with organizations and businesses throughout Kentucky — expanding opportunities, building stronger community connections, and reaching even more friends in need.

This next chapter means:
🤝 More partnerships
đź’™ More impact
🏡 More community
✨ More opportunities for individuals with disabilities

We can’t do it alone — and we don’t want to. Whether you want to volunteer, sponsor, donate, host an event, or simply help spread the word, there’s a place for you in the MSK family.

Together, we’re building something beautiful: Kind hearts. Powerful potential. Strong community.

We’ve missed y’all… and we’re excited to officially say: Mammaw Sandy’s Kitchen is back in action!

While our bakery storefront may have closed, the heart of our mission never left. In many ways, we’re simply growing into something new.

Mammaw Sandy’s Kitchen is shifting toward a community-centered initiative focused on creating inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities through:

✨️Cooking & baking workshops
✨️Community partnerships
✨️Social connection & mentorship
✨️Hospitality and life-skills experiences
✨️Community events and outreach

Our goal is to continue building spaces where people feel welcomed, valued, included, and empowered–just beyond the walls of a storefront (for now, at least!)

As we begin this next chapter, we are actively looking for:

✨️ Volunteers
✨ Community partners
✨ Churches, restaurants, businesses, and organizations to collaborate with
✨ Event and kitchen spaces
✨ Funding, sponsorships, and grant opportunities

If you believe in inclusion, community, and creating meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities, we would love to connect with you.

This mission has always been about people first, and we’re so excited to see where this new journey takes us.

Please feel free to share this post, tag organizations or businesses we should connect with, or message us directly if you’d like to get involved!

Much love from everyone at MSK! We hope to see you soon đź©·

Ps. For all inquires about potential partnerships and volunteer opportunities please contact Adrienne Warner directly at [email protected] or via Facebook Messenger. Thank you!

Hi friends,

I want to take a moment to speak openly and honestly with you about where we are — and to gently address something that has been weighing on my heart.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve faced unexpected health challenges that have resulted in hospital stays and ongoing medical appointments. I’ve recently begun working with a new doctor and I’m hopeful about the direction we’re headed. At the same time, I have to be realistic about my current capacity. Right now, my health has to come first.

We’ve also experienced significant operational shifts. Our original baker has transitioned her business to Shepherdsville and is no longer working with the nonprofit. With these changes — combined with slower-than-anticipated foot traffic during our initial weeks and bakery products being sold next door — we simply do not have the revenue needed to sustainably cover operational costs at this time.

Because of these factors, we will be pausing café and bakery operations.

This pause is not about defeat. It is about sustainability, integrity, and health.

I remain fully committed to the mission of Mammaw Sandy’s Kitchen. During this season, I will be focusing intentionally on strengthening our programming — building structured one-on-one job readiness training, including résumé development, interview preparation, workplace skills, and cultivating partnerships with local businesses for hands-on work experiences.

I will also be relocating back to my hometown to be closer to family support during this time. As I do, the organization’s next chapter will be rooted there as well.

If you are a Grayson County business owner who would be interested in partnering to provide training opportunities within your workplace, I would love to connect. Our mission has always been bigger than a single storefront. We are preparing future employees, team members, and leaders across many industries — and community partnership is how that vision grows.

With improved health and strong collaboration, I am hopeful we can secure a new space in the future. But before opening another storefront, I want to ensure we have the infrastructure and systems in place to sustain it long term.

This pause is not failure.
It is a strategic step toward longevity.

Thank you to those who have reached out with kindness. Thank you to those who have asked questions instead of assuming. And thank you to those who continue to believe in this mission.

We are still here.
We are still committed.
And we are still moving forward — just in a different way and in a different place for this season.

With gratitude,
Alayna
