Americana Community Center, Inc. Bridging the gap from surviving to thriving for 5,000+ people from over 100 countries each year. began in September 2007

-After-School and Summer programs for school age youth, offering a variety of educational and enrichment opportunities for the more than 300 youth served each year
-Family Education Program: A program for refugee & immigrant parents that builds literacy skills of the entire family and develops critical parenting & life skills
-Adult Education Classes: A partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools that includes GED and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses
-Fiberworks: Microenterprise program for refugee and immigrant women
-Free weekly citizenship classes offered in partnership with Kentucky Refugee Ministries
-Annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site
-Community Garden & Rain Garden and the weekly Bluegrass Global Growers Market (during growing season)
-The annual Americana World Festival: Celebration of community diversity and spirit on the first Saturday of every June.
-Facilities where community members & groups may host a range of meetings and special events
-The Family Health Center - Americana: On-site partnership with Family Health Centers, Inc.

Happy Citizenship Day!

Today, we celebrate the incredible journey of community members working hard toward becoming U.S. citizens.

Citizenship classes at Americana Community Center are provided in partnership with Kentucky Refugee Ministries. So far in 2026, we’ve hosted 67 class sessions with 28 participants, and we are thrilled to celebrate 5 citizenships attained!

Thank you to the dedicated instructors from Kentucky Refugee Ministries for continuing to welcome generations of new Americans.

The Americana Family continues to grow!

Join us in welcoming two incredible new additions to our staff: Steve Tran, our new Senior Finance Manager, and Tejas Shastry, our new Director of Development!

Steve joins us with a strong background managing finances and administration for small businesses. He keeps our operations running smoothly while bringing plenty of humor and lighthearted energy to the team—in his own words, he’s "not a serious person whatsoever!"

Tejas comes to us from the University of Louisville, where he worked at the intersection of fundraising, data, and technology. With a background spanning nonprofit development, entrepreneurship, software engineering, and open-source tech, Tejas excels at connecting people with resources and opportunities. Outside of work, you’ll find him reading, golfing, traveling, tinkering, and mastering the art of being a great girl dad.
