As Louisville’s first Dragon Boat Racing team we are proud to be part of the 300+ Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Racing teams throughout the world.

Our team was founded in April, 2013, as we sought to strengthen our spirits, prove that we weren’t defined by our shared diagnosis and support each other in our individual struggles. The Derby City Dragons is a team that welcomes breast cancer survivors, regardless of age, fitness level or previous experience. We share a zest for fun, life, health and sportsmanship, and promise that members will build new lifelong friendships as they “awaken the dragon within themselves”!

It’s not too late to make reservations to support our team tomorrow, Sunday, October 25th! Up to 10% of all proceeds will go to the team. Call 502-333-9595 Grassa Gramma is located at 2210 Holiday Manor Center. Doors open at 4pm. If you don’t feel like eating out, you can order to go and we will still receive up to 10% of the proceeds BUT YOU MUST MENTION DERBY CITY DRAGONS!

We will have a raffle basket $5 a ticket. You do not need to be present to win. It includes:
$100 gift card courtesy of Grassa Gramma, supporter shirt, 2 DCD luggage tags, 2 DCD eyeglass cloths, a DCD pin, 2 DCD coozies, a tall insulated Tumbler that says “Thank You for being awesome”, a dragon charm pink beaded bracelet, 2 pink ducks with the breast cancer ribbon, 2 Bath & Body Works hand sanitizers and foaming hand soap.

We will be able to take Venmo, PayPal and cash 😊

We had a great time at the Louisville FC soccer game against the Indy Eleven, Saturday night! Thanks to Andrew and the men’s soccer team, we were recognized on the field for breast cancer awareness! We gave out some gifts to other cancer survivors and their supporters and caregivers, courtesy of United Breast Cancer Foundation!

With only a few weeks left in October, breast cancer awareness month, we want to make sure all the ladies AND MEN (yes, men can get breast cancer!) out there are paying attention to their body and getting the necessary checks, whether it be a mammogram, a yearly exam with your doctor, or just being aware and doing your self exams.

If you have a history of breast cancer in your family, more than likely you should be getting a mammogram younger than others. Please check with your doctor and just make sure you are doing what you should be doing for early detection, IT SAVES LIVES!

It’s that time of year, yesterday we put Blossom and Willow to bed for the off season. We will miss paddling, traveling to festivals and the Mighty Ohio but we will not miss the extreme heat!

We will have several events during the fall and winter, including our holiday party mid December, our All Team Meeting January 24th (if you are interested in joining the team, please reach out to us, this is where you can learn all about us!) and of course we will have our Dragon Strong workout incentive program to help keep that camaraderie so special and help us stay strong through the off-season!

Another Pink Bag Event becomes a beautiful memory. It was epic as promised! We had the biggest turnout to date, it was so nice to be honored and pampered!
We want to thank the United Breast Cancer Foundation, Michelle & Paige @ Oxmoor Center (including all of the amazing businesses that donated raffle items!) and Puttshack - Louisville
for making it a super special night for all of us!
