Mere days before our regional premiere of Creation, VN member Brandon Aten ran into composer Dan Forrest 400 miles away at ACDA Southern Conference! Dan was kind enough to sign our concert poster and wish us luck. We’re on cloud nine, but not as much as we will be next Sunday. Come see what all the fuss is about!

The artwork of Dan Forrest's Creation: The circle shape and the complete color spectrum represent the diversity yet wholeness and interconnectedness of all creation.

The line drawings represent (clockwise) the themes of creation as presented in the work: Light, Sky, Garden, Spheres, Wings and Deep Blue (note that these lines both have double meanings: waves of the ocean and fish scales, and interlocking bird shapes that also evoke clouds/sky), and lastly, Ish Ishah (humanity) represented by double helixes.

All these lines flow together in one interdependent whole, as does creation.

Join us for an awe-inspiring afternoon of music as we present the regional premiere of Dan Forrest’s oratorio, Creation! This work celebrating the wonders of our planet will be brought to life in collaboration with a ten-piece chamber orchestra, handbell ensemble (Christ Church United Methodist’s Carillon Ringers), and organist (Tim Baker).

We are deeply grateful to all these gifted musicians, as well as Nancy Harris of Harris Entertainment for securing the chamber orchestra and Donna Vaughn, CCUM’s Director of Adult Handbells.

Don’t miss this powerful collaboration of choir, chamber orchestra, handbells, and organ. We hope you’ll join us! 🎶

While we are hard at work preparing for our upcoming performance of Dan Forrest’s “CREATION”, lets continue introducing you to the board members!

Up next is Danielle Armstrong.

Danielle Armstrong, soprano, loves the camaraderie and creative energy that comes from performing with talented musicians. Her passion for music began as a young child singing in church. She soon expanded her repertoire into secular works, including slumber party sing-alongs from The Little Mermaid. A Massachusetts native now based in Louisville, Danielle has performed with the Louisville Orchestra and tours regularly with the Royal School of Church Music America National Choir. By day, Danielle is Vice President of Operations at TogetherWith, an independent, employee-owned advertising agency; by night, she’s happiest cooking, discovering new restaurants, and making music with great people.

This campaign for is going to help pay for the instrumentalists we need for our spring concert, but that isn’t the only ambitious thing we’ve done this year!

We rebuilt and launched a new website, transitioned to mobile ticketing, and restructured so we could offer cheaper tickets to younger students and children hoping to increase accessibility to a wider audience!

As a small arts nonprofit, we know how to do a lot with a little, which is how we know every little bit counts!
Even $10 makes a difference to us!

Friends and Patrons!
Happy !

Last night, we did our first read through of the music for our next concert, the regional premiere of Dan Forrest’s “Creation”! I can already tell you it is going to be lovely.
Performance of this work will include hiring a chamber orchestra of 9-11 performers, which comes at a fairly significant cost.

You may remember that we didn’t hit our fundraising goal on this year’s Give For Good Louisville, so we are back to ask for your help and support to allow us to keep the music going!

You can support this endeavor by either giving directly through this link, or on the donation page on our website:
https://www.paypal.com/donate?campaign_id=U5JEUGQFXZVWU

We appreciate you and your support and hope that you will also consider attending the premiere on March 15 (location TBD)!
