Parks are essential city infrastructure, and no one explores their potential better than the City Parks Alliance!

We joined our friends Parks Alliance of Louisville and Louisville Parks and Recreation in Austin, Texas for this year's Greater and Greener Conference.

What an inspiring gathering of leaders who are utilizing the power of parks to create more sustainable, vibrant, and equitable cities!

Pardon our dust!

Olmsted Parks Conservancy is thrilled to partner with Play Cousins Collective on the Sankofa Homecoming Juneteenth Celebration at Chickasaw Park! Our Team for Healthy Parks is hard at work installing play elements made with natural materials that pay homage to African history and Black history in Louisville.

Sankofa Sanctuary will also have a public art installation by the (Un)Known Project, and a mural on the climbing wall by Art of Balance 23S.

This project is also supported by:

💧COOL places in the Olmsted Parks: Algonquin Park!

We used to shout out great spraygrounds in the first weeks of summer, but Algonquin has topped them all with the NEW pool and water park!

What to know:

Open daily noon - 5 except Tuesday
$2 for children 12 and under, $3 for ages 13 and up

And the Algonquin sprayground is still there if you don't want to fully commit to a day of swimming!

We were honored to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Pruitt Owsley Sweeney at the unveiling of his historical marker in Cherokee Park this weekend! We have Dr. Sweeney to thank for restoring Olmsted's vison of parks for ALL and ending park segregation in Louisville.

You can see the historical marker and learn more about Dr. Sweeney near the Cherokee Park golf course on the Scenic Loop!
