The shortest route to the Iroquois Park North Overlook is the staircase from the Uppill Road parking lot. The stairs have experienced some erosion, and our new mini excavator has fast-tracked repairs!

🐦 Olmsted Parks Conservancy began an extensive restoration project on the Nettelroth Bird Sanctuary in Cherokee Park in 2009. With help from the Nettelroth Foundation, we have expanded the birding site, constructed additional trails, managed invasive plants, installed trees and added signage to identify the site’s purpose.

As the newly planted trees mature, the habitat will grow and attract diverse wildlife species. The Olmsted Parks Conservancy Team for Healthy Parks continues to manage the natural areas to ensure that these investments make Nettelroth Bird Sanctuary a premier place to connect with nature within our city.

Walking in their footsteps: UnKnown Project installed footprints of local Black leaders, elders and youth in the Sankofa Sanctuary section of Chickasaw Park - the outdoor programming space for Play Cousins Collective. This installation helps children like Novaly, Malachi, and Ilu appreciate lasting impact of community.

🌟Earl Jones Earns National Honor!

For nearly 30 years, Earl Jones has been a dedicated supporter of and advocate for Louisville's Olmsted Park System.

The Olmsted Network honors Earl this fall with the Olmsted Stewardship Award to be presented at their national conference in Portland, Oregon.

As a champion of our Olmsted legacy, Earl has a deep understanding of the significance of Frederick Law Olmsted's vision and design principles. His tireless advocacy highlights the importance of each park to its surrounding neighborhood, and the value of Louisville's entire Olmsted Park System to the community.

We are so grateful for Earl's courageous voice, philanthropic commitment and profound impact. Please join us in congratulating Earl!
