UofL Family Business Center The UofL Family Business Center informs, celebrates, and strengthens family firms in the Kentuckiana

Despite the prominence of family-owned businesses (80-90%), only 40% survive to the 2nd generation, 12% to the third, and 3%to the fourth. The University of Louisville Family Business Center (FBC) is committed to improving these statistics by offering resources designed to inform, strengthen and celebrate family-owned businesses. The FBC has helped many businesses build a strong foundation for family business governance, continuity, leadership transition, and growth. The FBC’s interactive workshops, Roundtables, events, and educational forums provide FBC Members access to best practice knowledge to improve succession and survival rates for family-owned businesses.

Today's September Education Event was a great reminder that some of the most valuable learning happens when people are willing to engage, participate, and learn together.

Thank you to Tara Woolard and Joshua Rodenbaugh and for guiding us through an exploration of the hidden patterns that influence leadership, decision-making, and team performance in family businesses. The session was filled with practical, hands-on activities that participants can take back to their own organizations to build stronger teams and encourage meaningful dialogue.

Sometimes the best way to explain the value of the Family Business Center is to let our members do the talking.

When our Awards Committee expressed interest in capturing video from this year's program, we partnered with our friends at ProMedia Group to help tell the story. While they were there, we also took the opportunity to sit down with several members for quick interviews about their experiences in the Family Business Center.

The result? A fantastic glimpse into the relationships, learning opportunities, and connections that make this community so impactful.
