🍎 School may be out for summer, but Teach Kentucky is just getting started!

Today kicked off our annual 6-week Summer Institute, where our newest teachers begin preparing for the classroom alongside the people who know the journey best, Teach Kentucky alumni and veteran teachers.

One of the things that makes Teach Kentucky special is that our community doesn't end when someone completes the program. Our experienced teachers come back year after year to share their knowledge, support new cohorts, and help set them up for long-term success.

From day one, our newest teachers are surrounded by a network of educators who understand the challenges, celebrate the wins, and are invested in helping them thrive. 💙

🏡 We're looking for rental recommendations!

Our newest Teach Kentucky teachers are starting to move to Louisville, and we're helping them find safe, affordable places to call home. We're especially interested in options near UofL, Spalding, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Know of a great apartment community, rental home, landlord, or property manager? We'd love your recommendations.

One request: we care a lot about our teachers, so please only recommend places you'd feel comfortable sending your own college-age child.

If you have a lead, comment below or send us a message. Thanks for helping us welcome Louisville's newest educators! 🍎

Graduation season is officially underway for our Teach Kentucky teachers 🎓

We’ve been celebrating our graduates from Asbury University , Spalding University, and University of Louisville as they complete their Master of Arts in Teaching programs and officially become certified teachers.

The past two years have been busy from being students in grad school classrooms to teachers in their own classrooms — did we mention busy? But these educators are absolute rock stars, and watching graduation season each year is a little like seeing your kids all grown up.

We are so PROUD of all of you!

And the celebrations aren’t over yet, our Teach Kentucky graduation celebration is coming up this week ❤️

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re celebrating the incredible educators who have been part of Teach Kentucky over the past 25 years. 🍎❤️

Since 2001, Teach Kentucky has recruited and supported more than 560 teachers as they worked toward becoming certified educators. Today, nearly half are still teaching or leading in Kentucky schools.

Others have continued their careers in education in other states and even other countries, while some have gone on to become lawyers, doctors, business owners, and leaders in other professions. No matter where life has taken them, the impact they made in the classroom continues through the students they taught and supported.

We’re also incredibly thankful for the many Teach Kentucky alumni who continue to give back by mentoring new teachers, helping with recruitment weekends, supporting Summer Institute, and encouraging the next generation of educators.

To all Teach Kentucky teachers, past and present, thank you for the difference you make every day. 💙

🏇🌹 First Derby = Official Kentucky Status 🌹🏇

This weekend some of our first-year Teach Kentucky teachers got to experience their very first Kentucky Derby — and honestly, there’s nothing quite like it.

From Oregon, Michigan, Indiana, and Texas, they’ve spent this year learning Louisville traditions, cheering on their students, figuring out how to survive teacher life… and now Derby weekend is officially checked off the list.

At this point, we think it’s fair to call them honorary Kentuckians. ❤️🐎

We’re so glad these teachers chose Kentucky and our students. Moments like this are part of what makes Louisville such a special place to call home. 🍎

Big news from Teach Kentucky — we’re expanding! 🎉

After 25 years of recruiting and supporting educators in the Louisville area, we are proud to announce our first expansion beyond the region through a new partnership with Georgetown College.

Introducing: Teach Kentucky @ Georgetown College

This new program site will help recruit and support future teachers for school districts across Kentucky while creating new pathways into the profession right here in the Commonwealth.

Over the past 25 years, Teach Kentucky has:
🍎 Recruited 560+ teachers
🏫 Helped 240+ educators remain teaching in Kentucky schools
📚 Connected educators from 47 states and 380+ colleges and universities
🔬 Placed more than half of participants in high-need areas like STEM and Special Education

Through our partnership with Georgetown College and continued collaboration with AmeriCorps, we’re excited to continue strengthening Kentucky’s teacher pipeline and supporting communities across the state.

As Founder & CEO Rowan Claypool shared:
“We are finally able to fully live up to our name of Teach Kentucky.”

We’re wrapping up another incredible Teach Kentucky recruitment season, welcoming our 25th cohort, and WOW… what a ride:

📬 235,000 outreach messages
📝 594 applications
🎉 4 recruitment weekends
🚋 6 hours on trolley tours of Louisville
🎤 71 interviews
🍎 34 new educators heading into local public schools

All of that… powered by a team of just four, and WOW are we proud. 💥

None of this happens without the people who show up for this work every single day. Huge gratitude to our partners Jefferson County Public Schools, University of Louisville, Spalding University, Asbury University for helping us build strong pathways into the classroom.

And to our veteran teachers… the real MVPs. 💛 You show up, share your stories, answer questions, and remind every candidate that this path is real, meaningful, and possible. Not long ago, you were in their shoes, and now you’re helping guide the next generation forward.

34 new educators means 34 classrooms, 34 communities, and countless students impacted. That’s what this work is all about.

25 cohorts strong… and we’re just getting started ✨

Last week our Founder and President, Rowan Claypool attended Dr. Brian Yearwood’s inaugural State of the District Address, and we were honored to hear Teach Kentucky recognized during the speech.

Over the years, Teach Kentucky has helped bring more than 500 teachers from 47 different states to begin their teaching careers in Jefferson County Public Schools. Every one of those educators represents a classroom, a group of students, and a commitment to strengthening public education in Louisville.

We’re grateful for the partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools and proud of the community of educators who have chosen to build their careers here. 💙🍎

Rowan Claypool was honored to attend Dr. Brian Yearwood’s annual State of the District Address, hosted by the Jefferson County Public Education Foundation and Jefferson County Public Schools and presented by Class Act Federal Credit Union.

It was a great opportunity to connect with Dr. Yearwood, Tom Annesson, and Germaine Randolph from Class Act — leaders who are deeply invested in the success of JCPS and the future of public education in Louisville.

We’re grateful for strong partners like and who help us bring outstanding new educators to our city. 💙🍎
