there are no right or wrong answers. every bib at our Together We Run 5K has a spot to write their name, because this is why we do it. for them 💛

Day 2 of 7: Find Rosie a foster home

Rosie has been waiting since April. She beat heartworm, and she still wags her tail for every person she meets. In 6 days, her foster ends and she goes back to boarding.

Short term or long term, we need someone. She has to be the only animal in the home, with no cats or other dogs. She's crate trained, loves people, and loves to play ball.

For Skylar, Thor and Raven, dumped and left for weeks while neighbors said they’d shoot them.
for Peaches 🕊️ who came to us already dying and passed without her real name. her $1,700 bill is still unpaid.
for Willow, Charlie and Jazzy, whose mom spent her last 3 months in hospice.
for Pumpkin, Phoenix and Zoro, who still need you.
for Rosie, who has watched every other animal go home before her.
for every one of them who almost didn’t make it.

these are just a few of our most complex cases. we have so many more ❤️

Every animal we take in is counting on one thing: people who care enough to show up for them.
Together We Rescue Detroit Animals runs entirely on donations. No big budget. No safety net. Just everyday people who believe these animals deserve a chance. 💛

Right now, one of our dogs needs to start heartworm treatment. 3 of our dogs are finishing up heartworm treatments that we still need to pay for. It costs $1,500 per dog. 🥺

That sounds huge, until you break it down.
If just 750 people skipped one little treat, the extra side sauce, the fountain drink, the extra dessert, whatever costs about $2, we could cover it. Not one big donor. Just all of us, together. 🥤➡️❤️ TOGETHER we rescue.

🚨 Day 1 of 7: Find Rosie a Foster Home 🚨

Rosie has been waiting since April. She hasn’t had a foster home since July.

For months, our sweet girl has watched other dogs leave for homes while she stayed behind. She finally has a couch to sleep on, a blanket of her own, and people to love. But it’s only temporary. In 7 days, if no one steps up, Rosie goes back to boarding.

She did everything right. She fought through heartworm treatment and came out fully healed. She is crate trained. She loves to play ball. She loves every person she meets. And she is still waiting.

Rosie needs to be the only pet in the home, with no cats or other dogs. That’s all she asks for: one person or family to call her own for a while.

Can’t commit long term? Even one week matters. A week on a couch beats a week in a kennel. Fostering is free and apartments are welcome.

Taylor, this one is for you. ❤️

You are the one who saved Phoenix’s life.

You spoke up for him when he needed someone in his corner. You drove him yourself, every mile, just to get him to safety. You opened your home to him and became his medical foster, and you were the one beside him in those first hard days after surgery, when he was hurting and scared and didn’t know yet that he was safe.

You have dogs of your own, and you still said yes. You rearranged your whole living situation to make room for him, just so he’d have somewhere safe to heal.

You made him special food. You spent your own money on things for him, not because anyone asked you to, but because you wanted him to have them. You gave him comfort, patience, and a soft place to land.

You’ve been there since the very beginning, and you never once stepped back. Because of you, Phoenix is alive. Because of you, he knows what love feels like.

Thank you for fighting for him. Thank you for carrying him through the hardest part. Thank you for loving him like he was your own.

We will never forget what you did for him, Taylor. We love you. 🧡

🦇 BATMAN UPDATE! 🧡

Our tiny little Batman had his first vet visit, and we’re happy to report that all is well! 🥹🖤 We’re keeping a close eye on his squinty eye just to be safe, but for now, this little guy is doing well!
From being found cold, hungry, and all alone at a construction site to being safe, loved, and cared for – Batman is getting the chance every kitten deserves. 🐾

Thank you to everyone who has been following his journey and cheering him on! He may be tiny, but he’s already got a whole team rooting for him. 🧡

This is Pumpkin. He’s a survivor. 🐾

Pumpkin is one of our rescue cats, and this tiny boy had to have PU surgery, a major operation for a body that small. He made it through.

That only happens because people show up. We’re a foster-based rescue with no shelter, just people who open their homes and a community that helps us say yes when an animal needs more than we have.

Next Saturday is our first 5K ever, and we’re asking you to show up one more time.

Come walk with us. You can walk the course with one of our rescue dogs (two people per dog), so bring someone you love.

Zoro update 🖤

Zoro is stable. That’s the good news.

The honest news: he’s very lethargic and, if you want the truth, he’s sad. This boy has been bounced around more than any dog should be, and that lack of stability is exactly what makes his separation anxiety worse. Every move sets him back.

Zoro is a sweet angel. He wants his people, a soft blanket, and a place that stays the same.

What he needs now is a foster home with someone who will follow instructions. Please. That part is not optional.

Zoro has separation anxiety and needs an impact crate. He will break out of a wire crate and injure himself. The impact crate is not a punishment. It’s where he is the calmest, and it’s what keeps him safe.

If you can give him consistency, we will give you everything else: the crate, supplies, vet care, and our full support.

Every animal we’ve ever saved started with one person saying “okay, I’ll take them.” 🐾

That’s it. That’s the whole rescue. We don’t have a shelter. We don’t have kennels. We have people with a couch and a little room in their day.

So here’s the part nobody likes to say out loud: when we don’t have a foster, we have to say no. To a dog who’s out of time. To a cat with nowhere to go. Not because we don’t want them. Because there’s nowhere to put them.

And the ones we do pull without a foster sit in boarding. Same four walls, day after day. We watch them slowly shut down, and it breaks our hearts every time.

A foster home changes all of it. You get to watch a scared animal figure out they’re safe. Their personality comes out. They learn to trust. You’re the reason they’re ready when their family finds them.

You don’t need a fenced yard. You don’t need a house. Apartments count. It doesn’t cost you anything. If you can only do a week, that’s a week they’re not in a kennel.

And if you asked us about fostering once and then life got busy, no hard feelings. This is your sign. We still need you.

We need cat fosters and dog fosters, always. Not sure you qualify? Apply anyway.
