Congratulations to the 2026 Photo Contest Winner of Category G: Diversity!

🥇 Multi-National Survey and Training - Shawn Arnold, National Park Service

This photograph was taken as part of multi-national survey and training efforts South Florida! The National Parks Service, in partnership with the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, hosted an international intern from Benin, West Africa. This image depicts a training dive with the intern and staff from the Smithsonian and NPS. This dive's activities consisted of site orientation, debris field delineation, handheld metal detector survey, and overall condition assessment.

Interested in attending and have research to present? Join the ACUA Spotlight on Graduate Student Research Symposium!

Following last year’s success, the ACUA Graduate Student Associates have once again chosen to chair an open symposium at this year's SHA conference. The symposium will highlight student research, offering undergraduate and graduate students alike a chance to present their work that may not fit into the confines of a specific session. The work presented covers various archaeological periods and regions with a focus on maritime or underwater archaeology. All participants must present their papers in person.

This session is designed FOR students, BY students. All presenters are also encouraged to submit their papers to the ACUA Proceedings following the conference. To participate, create an SHA account at https://www.conftool.com/sha2027 select the ACUA Spotlight on Graduate Student Research Symposium and submit your abstract!

Abstracts must be submitted before June 30th
