A Special Thank You to Shandale Lacy (Peek), the daughter of Claude Peek who stayed by her father's side and was truly one of many reasons that he lived for as long as he did. We all witnessed his loving wife, Mrs. Anita Peek care for him day and night, around the clock. She nursed him, dressed and bathed him, she fed him and did everything that he could not do for himself, even through her own difficult and challenging time that she's still experiencing to this day. Another Special Thanks goes out to Mr. Kenneth Spann who has been with the Institute for over three decades and has never left their side, and to this very day he wears all the hats to keep the Institute alive and who also assisted in the care of Mr. Claude Peek. Thank you Mrs. Sheila Finney, Ms. Cheryl Major and all of the Institute's volunteers. There are so many others that are too many to name, but thank you all and God Bless You!

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Claude Peek, husband of Mrs. Anita Peek, on Monday April 29, 2024....

On Sept. 28, 2023 The Institute was invited to attend the Memorial Dedication for Viola Liuzzo, who was murdered by the Ku Klux Klan in 1965, while heading to Selma Alabama from Detroit, heeding the call of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in the wake of the Bloody Sunday, March 7, 1965.

Mrs. Dorothy Dewberry Aldridge (Freedom Rider) has always included Rosa Parks Institute in remembering the legacy of the Struggle for freedom. The event was held at the Viola Liuzzo Playground, located at 20087 Winthrop street in Detroit, Michigan. Dignitaries such as The Honorable Wendell Anthony, President (NAACP) and as well as others were in attendance.
