Harm reduction is saving lives at festivals, but more support and legal clarity are needed to expand these efforts, according to recently publish AP News article.
🤍 The article highlights instances where harm reduction groups/practices were successful at U.S. festivals. Distribution of Narcan and fentanyl test strips at these festivals have saved lives.
🤍 Because drugs are so commonly consumed at music festivals, drug checking and harm reduction areas would be highly effective at reducing overdose cases, as seen at a three day music festival in Mexico City.
🤍 Unfortunately, festivals face the issue of liability, criminalization, and social stigmas in the U.S. Harm reduction groups are working to destigmatize drugs, promote decriminalization, and promote drug checking.
