Meet our next Featured Artist, Erin Theroux!

Based in Metro Detroit, Erin is a multidisciplinary artist and designer working across painting, printmaking, video, illustration, and experimental typography. Their work explores human behavior, sexuality, neuroses, the ephemerality of lived and unlived experiences, and the ways we create, and assign meaning to, the mediums we use.

Their upcoming exhibition, The Anchorite, explores the idea of the modern anchorite: someone who chooses, or is pressured into, isolation and restriction in devotion to a person, system, belief, or relationship.

“I aim in my work and re-contextualizing the themes of my pieces to explore the idea of the modern anchorite, and how we choose and/or at times are pressured into restriction under the premise of devotion to other concepts, systems, and relationships.”

NEGATIVE SPACE
An Exhibition of Unrealized Public Sculpture

"Negative Space" is an exhibition exploring the unrealized possibilities of public sculpture. Through proposal maquettes, renderings and documentation, the exhibition reconstructs a landscape of absence and provides us with an opportunity to experience these works. “Negative Space” asks visitors to consider how public space is shaped not only by what is built, but also by what is refused.

Meet Artist Bailey Spiegel who is participating in our artist talk alongside exhibition "Friends: Furry & Fictional" TOMORROW, August 13th from 1-3pm!

Bailey Spiegel is inspired by a wide range of topics, from near-death experiences to quantum physics, his work explores themes surrounding spirituality and religion, cosmology, and mythology. A central question in his practice is, “What is the nature of the spiritual world and how do we relate to it?” By using symbols that are multi-layered and deliberately ambiguous, Spiegel encourages viewers to arrive at their own conclusions and interpretations

Meet Artist Luckey Weathers who is participating in our artist talk alongside exhibition "Friends: Furry & Fictional" on August 13th from 1-3pm!

Luckey Weathers work explores memory, perception, and the brutality and beauty of human nature. Recurring throughout his paintings are blurred boundaries between human and animal, ambiguous identities, and dreamlike spaces that feel both familiar and uncanny.

We are now accepting submissions for our next Gift Shop rotation. Artists are invited to submit up to ten images of original, handmade work for consideration.

We are looking for ceramics, fibers, jewelry, glass work, small 2D work, etc for the next round of Gift Shop Artists!

Meet Artist Susan Aaron-Taylor who is participating in our artist talk alongside exhibition "Friends: Furry & Fictional" on August 13th from 1-3pm!

Susan Aaron-Taylor is a builder and a storyteller whose hands and spirit work collectively to create works of art rooted in the traditions of alchemy and creative fantasy. A sculptor, teacher, and student of Jungian psychology, Aaron-Taylor mines the realm of dreams, archetypes, and the collective unconscious to invent mythologies entwined in personal history, mysticism, and ritual.
