Young People Travel Global Edge

Young People Travel Global Edge We are changing the trajectory of how many children from disadvantaged communities get the opportunity to have a global edge in life.

Focusing on leadership skills, public speaking, community service, higher education, internships, and entrepreneurship. A global edge allows students to broaden their worldview in their everyday lives and have a positive impact on their communities and the world. This offers a pathway into foreign affairs, ambassadorship, international relations, and many other areas that result in a global impact. Our organization gives a global edge to our inner city youth through international scholarship and virtual learning. International Scholars
Our international scholars are boys and girls ages 12-18 who travel abroad with our organization. These international experiences help expand their horizons through our 5-pillar curriculum: Education, Entrepreneurship, Careers, Sports, and Cultural Immersion. When students return, they bring a global edge into their extracurricular activities, education, career interests, and interpersonal relationships.

We're packing our (new-to-us, one-of-a-kind and artist-customized) suitcase and getting ready to travel! ✈️

The Village Club's recent Around the World with YPT event was an exciting evening where we had the opportunity to sample fabulous international dishes, view and bid on unique suitcase designs created by Detroit artists, and support opportunities for young people to see the world.

It was also an evening of worlds coming together and a chance for us, as a woman-owned business to support a woman-led nonprofit...and in a women-led space to boot! Our CEO, Melissa Halpin also serves on the board of YPT.

Thank you to all of the artists who contributed their talents, to the student ambassadors who shared their global experiences, to Sanya Weston, our friend, founder of YPT, and the 2026 Philanthropist in Residence at The Village Club for her leadership and vision, and to TVC and the TVC Enrichment Fund for creating a space where we can lift each other up and support good work.
