Bringing a beautiful Sephardic tradition to our Shabbat table for Shavuot! This is a modern spin on Pan de Siete Cielos (The Bread of the Seven Heavens), a historic Shavuot bread from pre-Inquisition Spain representing the seven celestial spheres Moses ascended on Mount Sinai. ⛰️✨

This version modifies the Sephardic tradition by wrapping the seven rings around a pyramid using a Hungarian Kiortosh (chimney cake) pastry technique. 🥮 Baked with cinnamon sugar and filled with sweet vanilla cream and fresh cherries, it’s the ultimate dairy treat for the holiday weekend! 🍒🥛🍰

As we observe Shavuot, we are also preparing to hold space for Yizkor on the second day of the holiday, a sacred moment of collective memory and reflection. 🕊️🤍

Yizkor is a beautiful opportunity to again honor those who have passed. In this clip, Reboot network member Rebecca Garza-Bortman and designer Ruth Siegel explain how combining a yearly Yahrzeit with Yizkor four times a year gives us five opportunities every year to intentionally celebrate our loved ones’ memories. ✨
