OktoberWest 2026 volunteer sign-ups are officially open!

This is one of our biggest events of the year and it takes a lot of people working together to make it happen. Whether you’ve volunteered with us for years or this will be your first time, we’d love to have you be part of it.

There are a variety of volunteer shifts and ways to help throughout the event, so grab a spot that works for you.

As always, volunteering with us gets you free VIP access to the event and a food voucher!

KANAWHA CITY — WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Charleston Urban Works is continuing to gather community feedback as we explore the possibility of a new community event in Kanawha City.

If you live, work, own a business, or spend time in Kanawha City, we’d love your input. What would make you attend? Food, live music, local vendors, family activities, a street festival — or something else? We also want to hear your thoughts about important considerations like traffic, parking, and potential road closures.

As a thank-you for participating, everyone who completes the survey will be entered for a chance to win tickets to OktoberWest!

Charleston Urban Works was honored to help celebrate this exciting milestone by coordinating their grand opening and ribbon cutting. It's always rewarding to welcome another locally owned business that's investing in Kanawha City and helping our community continue to grow.

A special thank you to Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin, Commissioner Ben Salango, our dedicated Kanawha City Working Group members, and all of the community members who joined us to celebrate this exciting day. Your support for our local businesses makes a real difference.

Another incredible day in Historic Elk City on the West Side!

Congratulations to Goldenrod Kitchen and Elk City Popcorn Company on their official ribbon cutting and grand opening this past Saturday. Before the ribbon was even cut - and before the doors officially opened - there was already a line halfway down the block. That says everything about the excitement, support, and momentum surrounding these two new businesses.

Goldenrod Kitchen, owned by Nola Todd, is already bringing something special to the neighborhood with scratch-made breakfast, lunch, baked goods, and beverages inspired by Appalachian culture, community, and connection.

Right next door, Elk City Popcorn Company, owned by Daniel and Tracey Todd, is adding even more flavor and fun to the district with more than 40 handcrafted popcorn flavors, gift options, fundraising opportunities, and a business that is proudly popped right here in Historic Elk City.

Seeing these two family-owned businesses open side-by-side is a reminder of what makes Charleston’s West Side so special: local entrepreneurship, creativity, family, community pride, and people showing up to support one another.

Congratulations again to Nola, Daniel, Tracey, and everyone involved in bringing Goldenrod Kitchen and Elk City Popcorn Company to life. We are so excited to welcome you to the Elk City District and can’t wait to see everything ahead!
