Last night at our October GMM, the Junior League of Charleston, WV heard from our community partners on a panel that we called The JLC Why, led by Taylor Bailey, a long time JLC member and Sustainer.

For many decades, our League has partnered with these wonderful organizations who provide much-needed services to women and children in Kanawha Valley. We heard about their mission, and we learned the history of how our League became involved in their work from JLC Sustainers.

We are grateful for the opportunities to continue our partnerships with these organizations!

We heard from:

- Ronald McDonald House Southern West Virginia: Brooke Hylbert, Executive Director and Alice Abernathy
- Daymark, Inc.: Beth Scohy, Executive Director and Ellen Slotnick
- Gabriel Project - Kanawha Valley: Donna Hawkins, Executive Director
- Vandalia Health CAMC Women and Children's Hospital NICU : Valerie Jones, NICU Manager and Beth Belcher

ICYMI: What an awesome start to our new League year! Our members have been hard at work making a real impact across our community, and we are just getting started.

Here’s a quick look at what we’ve accomplished together so far:
✨ First GMM: Hosted our first General Membership Meeting with Actives and our wonderful new Fall Provisionals!
🤝 Day of Caring: Rolled up our sleeves to support United Way of Central WV at Heart and Hand Thrift Store!
đź‘— LBDI: Raised over $4,000 through Little Black Dress Initiative to support our Backpack Buddies program!
🎒 Backpack Buddies: Packed 150 snack packs to help keep local kids fueled and ready to learn.
🍲 Ronald McDonald House: Served our monthly home-cooked meal to support families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

Altogether, our members have already logged nearly 50 hours of community service! Thank you to everyone who showed up, donated, and served. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds!
