📣 BLACK LUNG EVENT UPDATE 📣
New River Health had planned to host a Black Lung screening event in partnership with NIOSH; however, due to unforeseen mechanical issues with the mobile unit, screening services will no longer be available.
The event will still take place as scheduled at our Oak Hill location, where Benefits Counselors will provide free, confidential assistance with Federal Black Lung benefits applications. Staff will be available to answer questions and help guide eligible miners through the application process.
New River Health remains committed to supporting the health and well-being of coal miners in our community and encourages individuals to attend for assistance with benefits.

This flu season is one of the worst in years. If you have a sudden onset of symptoms like: fever, chills, body aches, cough, or sore throat, get tested right away for the flu.
If you have asthma and test positive for the flu:
- Talk with your doctor about antiviral medicines
- Flu antivirals work best when they are started within 1-2 days after you have flu symptoms
- Follow your asthma action plan
- Get plenty of rest, hydrate, and manage your symptoms
- Protect others by staying home, covering your cough, and washing your hands
