📣 BLACK LUNG EVENT UPDATE 📣
New River Health had planned to host a Black Lung screening event in partnership with NIOSH; however, due to unforeseen mechanical issues with the mobile unit, screening services will no longer be available.
The event will still take place as scheduled at our Oak Hill location, where Benefits Counselors will provide free, confidential assistance with Federal Black Lung benefits applications. Staff will be available to answer questions and help guide eligible miners through the application process.
New River Health remains committed to supporting the health and well-being of coal miners in our community and encourages individuals to attend for assistance with benefits.

Government leaders credit education in part for this. But this spring, the lead federal agency on smoking prevention programs effectively shut down when the Trump administration dismissed all full-time employees at the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health.
That led directly to the cancellation of state programs, including one in America’s so-called “teen va**ng capital,” West Virginia.
RAZE student activist Kimberly Mills attends Wyoming East High School in southern West Virginia, where one in four kids lives in poverty. Of Mills’ 10 siblings, five of them v**e.
“They're around their parents and their parents will v**e, so then they're like, ‘Oh, they can do it, so I'll be fine,’” Mills said.
West Virginia’s RAZE program ended July 1, after federal money ran out.
