Artisans For Hope Where refugees Connect, Learn, Create, and Earn! We train Treasure Valley refugees in sewing, fiber and fabric crafts, and selling their handmade items.

Shop & sewing studio located at 16th & State in the Arcade Building across from Albertson’s in Boise! Our services include:

• Training and supplies to advance and expand textile skills
• Opportunities to market handcrafted items
• ESL and community knowledge
• Basic skill development for employment and entrepreneurship
• A safe environment to foster friendships, collaboration, and healthy connections

Artisans For Hope engages Boise’s refugee population through three interactive program components:
• Community Center (where students make connections)
• Textile Training (where they learn new skills)
• Business (where they create and earn money)

The organization serves a growing number of refugees who are determined to carve a niche for themselves in their new community. We are able to enable their efforts through our small, dedicated staff and large pool of skilled volunteers.

We are headed home from Pendleton exhausted and full. We not only got to share our mission and our Story Quilts with so many people, we got to share stories of resilience and joy, love and hope with a whole new audience young and old. Our community sewing projects were the most popular place in Interwoven Market and what fun it was to teach a few very young boys to sew (we even made an apron and bags for toys!) as well as talk making with some seasoned sewists. And to see it all culminate at last night’s fashion show on stage and on horseback was something we will never forget. How cool did our community coat of many colors and horse blanket turn out?! Thank you for having us and 🙏🏼🤎 and to all our new friends in Oregon and beyond - keep in touch and come into the shop anytime you are in Boise!

This week has been a long time coming and we are so excited to be taking two board members, Ann and Fran, and two of our international sewists and volunteers, Aiko and Sotoode, to participate in the inaugural Interwoven: Where Cultures Meet in Pendleton Oct 15-17! Interwoven is a western and indigenous design, art, craft, fashion and food immersive experience and we are participating in so many ways!

1️⃣ First, we are honored to be a featured nonprofit amongst 70 other makers from 30 indigenous nations and are proud to represent some of the newest Westerners and Idahoans from refugee backgrounds in Interwoven Market, organized by Wintry Market
2️⃣ We are Wintry Marketndful of sewing machines (they will also be for sale and use!) to create a community coat of many colors AND a fabulous horse show blanket to be worn in Saturday night’s fashion show!
3️⃣ For the first time ever we will be exhibiting our story quilts out of Idaho! We can’t wait to share them with this new audience in Pendleton.
4️⃣ Our Executive Director will be speaking as part of the festivities on Friday at 130pm about Artisans For Hope and the story quilts.

It’s always a treat to have guests in the studio and store and these two special folks spent Friday morning with us learning about what we do and why it matters so much. What an honor to have Dr. Kathy Libal, professor of social work and human rights at the University of Connecticut, and Dr. Charlie Clements, physician, writer, Executive Director of the Harvard Center for Human Rights policy and peace activist, so interested in Artisans For Hope. They talked with our ED, Amy, spent time with our sewists and volunteers, and purchased a lot of things in our store. So grateful to be part of a worldwide community of people working for good and change. 🙏🏼🌏🤎

Day two ✌️of Hyde Park Street Fair was warm and lovely! We’ve sold so much fun stuff to so many cool people - including hope flags 🚩for a special memorial, four little Halloween 👻 capes for siblings with candy corn on them, a knitted crown for a young queen 👑 a darling handmade vest for a king 🤴🏾 and so much more! Come today (Sunday) and see what we’ve got because we brought more fun things from the shop and we’ve loved meeting you all! 10am-7pm and we’re just underneath the hiking hill at Camel’s Back Park.
