Taylor reached out to us to share this :

I wanted to give an update on the kitty we adopted in January. Her name was Tulula Midnight, but we renamed her Noca.

She was timid at first, but she has now developed such a fun personality. She surprisingly knows how to play fetch! She will bring you anything—hair clips, TV remotes, chapstick, her toys—and wants you to throw them so she can bring them right back.

She is majorly cuddly. She’s the sweetest, most perfect, cuddly child in the world.

We are nearly out of wet kitten food! In the last 30 days, we have accepted 708 cats into our shelter. We really could use the community's support to stock our shelves. This handsome guy is Elvis, and he is ready to find a home of his own. Elvis is a smart, spunky boy who is very people-oriented and gets along with dogs and cats! Additionally, he is crate trained! Elvis is a little shy outside, but having another dog in the home really helps him out. Because of this, he will be required to be adopted into a home with another dog.

His play style can be pretty energetic and a bit rough, so he will be required to meet any dogs in the home prior to adoption. This behavior also means he needs a home without any kids under 14. He is not fully housetrained, so keeping up with crate training will help prevent accidents in the house when he is not being watched. He also tends to pull hard on leash.

We had 187 animals join their forever homes last week: 114 cats (74 kittens), 55 dogs, 4 rats, 6 rabbits, 2 parakeets, 1 ferret, 2 ducks and 3 chickens.

Annie (in the middle) came to us as a stray with a small growth on her lower eyelid near the corner of her right eye. We removed it and it appeared consistent with being benign. While with us, we learned she loved all people she met, walked great on leash, and preferred to be the only dog in her next home. And last week, her dreams of a forever family came true!

Sunny came into our Veterinary Medical Center after her owner noticed that she wasn’t eating as much as usual and found vomit containing hair ties. An examination, including X-rays, revealed foreign material in her stomach. To safely remove the material, our veterinary team performed a gastrotomy, surgically opening the stomach to retrieve the foreign objects. During the procedure, we removed hair ties and string.

After her procedure, Sunny returned home to continue her recovery with her family!

Common signs that your pet may have ingested a foreign body include:
-Vomiting or repeated attempts to vomit
-Decreased or complete loss of appetite
-Lethargy or acting unusually tired
-Abdominal pain or tenderness
-Diarrhea or changes in bowel movements
--Straining to defecate or being unable to pass stool
-Excessive drooling or lip licking
-Restlessness or difficulty getting comfortable
-Dehydration
-A swollen or painful abdomen

If you suspect your pet swallowed something they shouldn’t have, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible!

Ziggy is an expert at "keeping an eye out." Do you need someone to help supervise chore or dinner time? Ziggy is your guy!

He came in as a stray, so we are still learning about him. However, while he's been with us we've discovered he walks nicely on leash, loves cheese and enjoys getting affection. He is also obviously quite the character!

Vegeta came to our Shelter Medical Center with a history of chronic ear infections affecting both ears. When he arrived, his ear canals were inflamed and painful, with significant yeast and bacterial overgrowth. His left ear was especially affected and had chronic scarring as well as a ruptured eardrum (tympanic membrane).

Once we had a better understanding of his condition and found the right combination of medications to get his ears under control, Vegeta continued his recovery in a foster home. Over the course of several weeks, Vegeta received medicated ear flushes, topical medications, and anti-inflammatory treatment, along with multiple sedated rechecks so our veterinary team could closely monitor his healing.

After spending a little over a month with us, including time in foster care, Vegeta was finally ready to meet his forever family. And he didn't have to wait long. Just a few hours after joining the adoption floor, this sweet boy was adopted!
