Tomorrow, Tuesday May 5th, is Preservation Idaho's first ArchWalk of the year!

ArchWalks (pronounced "ark-walks") are architecture-focused historical tours, with a theme that varies each month through the summer season. Each walk is written and guided by an expert historian, and each theme is very limited: only four tours are available each month - so don't miss out!

Tour themes for 2026 include:

🚨June - Rose Garden Ramble at Caldwell's Luby Park
🚨July - Highland Park Uncovered
🚨August - A More Complete Story: Boise's River Street

On Saturday, Washington Elementary School is hosting a Bike Block Party, and everyone is invited! During the event, Lemp Street will be closed between 15th and 16th Streets, and 16th Street will be closed between Lemp and Ridenbaugh Streets.The roads will close around 8am and are expected to reopen once the event concludes, around 2pm. 🚨Please keep an eye out for bicyclists and pedestrians making their way to the event. 🚨

The Idaho State Historic Preservation Office partnered with NENA on our recent historic district re-survey. They are staffed with a team of truly dedicated and remarkably helpful, highly functional preservationists, and they do critical work for the historic places of Idaho. The places that are special to all of us.

Recently, NENA approved a $2,500 grant to Boise’s Safe Routes to School organization, which works to educate school kids on pedestrian and bike safety. Thanks to everyone who supports our fundraisers, the success of which allows us to fund grants such as this one.

Starting in February of 2026, the City of Boise will be using heavy machinery to remove invasive roses and other shrubs from Hulls Gulch Reserve to improve ecosystem health and lower fire risk.
