The mission and purpose of this (WCHS) Society is to bring together people interested in history, especially in the history of Whatcom County, Washington. This purpose is carried out by various means, which include: disseminating historical information and arousing interest in the past by holding meetings with addresses, lectures, papers, and discussion; marking historic buildings, sites, and trai

ls; publishing historical material; establishing temporary and permanent displays which help to illustrate and interpret the exploration, settlement, and development of the region; and using all available forms of media to increase public awareness.

Whatcom Museum features the "Vintage Vaudevillians" collection of over 750 photos by James Warwick, the stage manager of Bellingham's downtown theaters. He started at Lighthouse Theater in 1897 and later became a film projectionist at the American Theater – reflecting the cultural shift from vaudeville to motion pictures, as Kolby LaBree of the Good Time Girls explains.
