When the going gets tough, it’s more important than ever to look out for each other. In a few short days, our community along with the entire nation will lose access to SNAP benefits. Without this food assistance, many among us will go hungry. Those of us that are living with a disability are sometimes even more at risk when federal funding of this nature is disrupted.
We here at the AIROW Project feel passionately about providing a space where those with disabilities may live a healthy and active life. Without food we can be neither healthy nor active. As such, we will be collecting food donations to be delivered to those in our community whose disabilities limit their access to transportation. If you have the means, please drop off any food you wish to be donated to Airow’s office in the on Commercial Street in downtown Bellingham. Our collection times will be weekdays from 9am to 4pm. If you don’t have spare food but want to help the cause, please consider making a donation via our website.
Together we can provide a more equitable life for our beloved community 🩵

Perhaps the biggest barrier in adaptive sports is the word “adaptive,” as the expense of sports equipment is a challenge for adaptive athletes who want to participate, said April Katz, founder and executive director of the AIROW (Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation of Whatcom County) Project in Bellingham.

Athletes with connections to Washington state shone in Vancouver and Whistler, while the Games honored Indigenous relations and highlighted the potential of local winter adaptive sports
