New Acoustic isn’t a genre but a branching family tree that grew out of folk and then cross-pollinated with other styles. Think of it this way: New Acoustic = traditional instruments + modern creativity + genre-blurring.
We'll hear: David Grisman, Turtle Island String Quartet, Tray Wellington, Alison Brown, The Goat Rodeo Sessions, Hawktail, Ned Luberecki, Béla Fleck, Grant Gordy, Chris Thile, Mr Sun, and Vassar Clements.

Charlie Bryan grew up in Houston, Texas, and started doing community radio in 2009 while enrolled in university in Austin. He has DJ'd for KUTX, KPFT, and KTRU in Houston and Austin, and has been involved in community radio for over 15 years. Currently, Charlie is the Director of Operations for the SPARK Museum and has worked in the Museum field for almost a decade. He has called Bellingham home for the last 5 years and is here to stay.

As an avid lover of music and all things edible, we were glad to have him as the emcee for Whatcom in Food & Stories!
