Cherokee County is rewriting its entire zoning code TODAY and your voice needs to be in the room.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, not celebration. The truest way to honor the fallen is to refuse to add to their number.

Join NGA CAN Monday, Memorial Day, on the corner of Main St and Arnold Mill Rd in Woodstock for a peaceful sign waving stand: Honor the Fallen. Bring Them Home. Fund the VA.

Monday, May 25 | 11 AM to 1 PM | Public sidewalks on the track side of Main

We’ll stand against the wars in Iran and Gaza, against any new war this administration wants to start, and for the 40,000 VA workers cut from the jobs that keep our veterans alive. Veterans earned their care. Honoring service means funding it.

Bring a sign, bring water, bring your family. Extra poster supplies will be on hand. This is a family friendly, peaceful, legal, nonviolent stand on public sidewalks.

Whether you served, lost someone who did, or simply believe peace is worth standing up for, there is a place for you on that corner.

Now that the May 19 primary is over, NGA CAN is launching a sign cleanup and reuse drive! Yard signs make great bases for handmade protest signs, and we want your help collecting them. Here is what you need to know before you grab anything.

🚫 Do NOT remove signs for any candidate who will be on the November ballot.

✅ EXCEPTION: Signs that specifically say “May 19 Primary” or “Vote May 19” are fine to collect even if that candidate is still in the race. They reference a past date and no campaign is coming back for them.

🏠 Signs on private property belong to the landowner. Do not remove them without explicit permission from the property owner.

🛣️ Signs on public rights-of-way depend on where you are in Cherokee County:

WOODSTOCK and CANTON: Campaign signs in the right-of-way were never legally permitted there, so any roadside signs are fair game to collect right now.

UNINCORPORATED CHEROKEE COUNTY: Campaigns have 30 days after the election to retrieve signs. That window closes June 18. After that, roadside signs are considered abandoned.

HOLLY SPRINGS: The city does not actively enforce right-of-way rules, but public works will eventually dispose of uncollected signs. Do not wait too long!

Bring collected signs to our next meetup or reach out to coordinate a drop-off. Stay safe near roads and never trespass on private property.

Let’s keep our communities clean and stock the NGA CAN supply closet at the same time!

Two ways to stand up for democracy in Cherokee County today, Saturday May 23. The forecast calls for showers and possible storms this afternoon, so pack an umbrella, wear good shoes, and bring water.

📍 Canton Saturdays: Signs & Protest
11:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Riverstone Parkway & Waleska Street, Canton
RSVP: https://www.ngacan.org/events/canton-saturdays-signs-protest-2026-05-23-11-00

📍 Take It to the Bridge: Weekly Visibility Action
1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Hwy 92 bridge over I-575, Woodstock
RSVP: https://www.ngacan.org/events/take-it-to-the-bridge-weekly-visibility-action-on-hwy-92-over-i-575-2026-05-23-13-00

The bridge action starts right after the Canton stand wraps, so you can come to one or make an afternoon of both. A note on the weather: we do not officially cancel for rain, but we also cannot promise a big crowd on a wet day. Use your own judgment on whether to come out. If you do, use that same judgment with the storms. If you hear thunder or see lightning, get to your car and wait it out. However many of us are there, we will be glad to stand together.

THE PEOPLE ARE SHOWING UP! 🗳️🔥

Rivergreen, Bradshaw, and Hickory Flat Library all have LINES right now and that means your neighbors are out here making their voices heard! Reports are showing about a 30 to 40 minute wait, and that is ✨amazing✨ to see.

Pack a little patience and a little prep before you head out:

💧 Bring some water
🧢 Throw on a hat
☂️ Grab an umbrella for some shade
👗 Dress for the weather

And here is the only thing that truly matters tonight:

⏰ AS LONG AS YOU ARE IN LINE BY 7 PM, YOU GET TO VOTE!!!!! The line does not matter. The wait does not matter. Just get yourself there and get in line before 7 and your 👏vote 👏counts👏!!!

There is still time. Go join your neighbors. 💪
