Meet keepcherokeegreat. No posts, no followers, and a bio about “fighting back on the falsehoods spread by the Democrat Socialist of America.”

Socialist. Singular. So who’s the target here? One lone socialist who also happens to be a Democrat? Or did you mean the Democratic Socialists of America, a whole separate group from the Democrats? Y’all couldn’t get through one sentence without screwing it up, and you want to lecture anybody about falsehoods?

They follow eight accounts: us, three DSA chapters, the AJC, the Tribune, the tourism board, and Mayor Michael Caldwell. Hold up. You’re on a crusade against socialists and you follow Caldwell? Are y’all calling him a socialist now?

Guess the p**o protecting, warmongering, immigrant hating MAGA N***s are feeling threatened. Good.

About that name, though. Every time somebody slaps “keep it great” on something, I want to ask who it was great for. Sure wasn’t the immigrant families scared to drive to work, or folks priced out of their hometowns, or anybody who’s spoken up at a meeting and watched the people in charge vote the other way anyway.

When these guys say “great,” they mean quiet. The people with money get what they want, the council votes it through, and the rest of us shut up and say thanks. They’re xenophobic as****es who’d rather hand this county to corporations than let the people who live here have a say.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Showing up at council meetings so developers can’t roll over the people who live here.

Running Free Fest every month with donated clothes, food, and household stuff for anybody who needs it. No paperwork, no judgment.

Teaching people how local government works and how to get involved.

Protesting. A lot. Heat, rain, side of the highway. We’re not going anywhere.

Knocking doors and registering voters.

All with zero outside money. Just neighbors looking out for neighbors.

$37.3 million. Ten years. One company. And the vote is October 20.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office wants to lock taxpayers into a ten year contract with Axon for TASERs, body cameras, dash cameras, evidence storage, and “future” technology that nobody has publicly defined. That could mean AI written police reports, drones, or cameras that read and log your license plate.

Here’s what makes this hard to swallow:

🔹 Four Cherokee deputies were arrested and fired this year, accused of misusing the county’s license plate reader database. One case allegedly went on for more than two years before anyone caught it.
🔹 The contract summary says nothing about audits, access logs, or consequences for misuse.
🔹 The first year alone costs about $3.4 million. While building this year’s budget, the county cut about $550,000 from elections and $330,000 from the courts.
🔹 Across Georgia, more than 20 officers have faced discipline or charges in the past year for misusing license plate reader systems, including cases involving stalking charges.

Other counties have stopped deals like this. In Arizona, Pima County supervisors rejected a $45 million Axon expansion 5 to 0. In Texas, Hays County commissioners pulled the funding days after residents packed a community forum.

Cherokee County can do the same, and it starts with you.

Every protest you’ve ever felt good about had people behind it you probably never noticed. There was the marshal who kept the line moving, the medic with the cooler of water, and the person in the bright vest who got everyone across the street in one piece. This time, that could be you.

Here’s where we need you:

Safety marshals to keep the group together, stay calm if someone gets hostile, and help folks know where to go. This role takes real prep, and we’ll brief you beforehand.

Medics, or anyone with first aid training, to watch for heat, falls, and anyone who needs a seat and some water.

Crossing guides to help marchers cross the street safely and legally, at the crosswalk and with the signal.

Sign holders at the polling zone, so marchers can hand off their signs before they go in to vote.

Sign makers, water and supply runners, photographers, and drivers who can give someone a ride.

Most roles mean coming a little early and staying a little past the end. Most need no experience at all.

You’re tired. I know, because I’m tired too.

You’ve held the signs, made the calls, shown up to the meetings, and the news still lands like a punch every morning. It’s fair to wonder if any of it is working.

Here’s what I believe: the news would be so much worse without us. Every rezoning we slowed, every data center fight we dragged into the light, every neighbor who got a ride or a bag of groceries happened because ordinary people kept showing up. Picture your county if we’d all gone quiet. That’s the Georgia some very rich, very nasty people are hoping for.

They’re counting on you being too worn out to vote. Rick Jackson has put more than $108 million of his own money into buying the governor’s office. Ossoff’s seat is one of the closest Senate races in the country. Our state house and senate seats get decided by a few hundred votes, and two Public Service Commission seats decide what Georgia Power charges you and what gets built for the next data center.

No one should be able to buy a state. Stopping it is simple:

Now picture November 4. The races were close, and we won enough of them because exhausted people voted anyway. About 90 acres could become Heavy Industrial. That would let a concrete batch plant open with no public hearing and drop the buffers, screening, and truck rules Cherokee County required.

Fill out the campaign contribution disclosure form required for anyone speaking in opposition.
Opponents share 15 minutes total, so coordinate with your neighbors.

Ask Council to:
1. Vote on Townview Commons separately
2. Zone the speedway parcel Light Industrial
3. Apply Condition 9 to both Dixie parcels
4. Require a Conditional Use Permit for the transfer station
5. Carry over the county protections

A New York private equity firm wants to put an AI data center at 300 Rabbit Hill Road in Holly Springs. 150 residents packed the Woodstock Rec Center to hear the pitch. We recorded it.

The customer is almost certainly government surveillance. The application names local governments as the demand. The design firm in the permit file has a CEO who describes AI data centers as the infrastructure for reading a petabyte a day of drone and sensor surveillance. Cherokee County already has 111 Flock cameras, 622 private cameras with police access, two drones, and a Real Time Crime Center. Nobody has time to watch it all. This is the machine that watches it all.

Asked directly, a Prime rep said none of his tenants use Flock or any cameras. His tenants are software companies. The cameras belong to the Sheriff’s Office. That answer can be completely true and still mean nothing.

Their own marketing map lists this site at ten megawatts. The application says six. Told about it, they said they’d change the website. The sound study, the emissions report, and the substation load are all calculated from that number.

Prime Group Holdings paid over $20.5 million in 2023 to settle SEC findings that it lied to its own investors about fees going to a brokerage owned by its CEO.

They couldn’t name a tenant, couldn’t produce a single operating facility anywhere, have no sound baseline, and answered “N/A” to all eight of the city’s impact questions.

Not one promise made that night is in the permit. Planning Commission is expected November 12. Council is expected December 2. Whatever isn’t written down by then doesn’t exist.
