Every Friday, we wear red.

“Remember Everyone Deployed” (R.E.D.) is a simple but powerful way to show unity and support for our service members serving far from home. It serves as a reminder that they are not forgotten.

By wearing red, we stand in solidarity with those currently deployed and their families.

We invite our community to join us wear red today and show your support. ❤️

Mercer University is looking for panel participants who had regular menstrual cycles and lost them as a result of cancer treatments up to 15 years ago. We are also looking for women who had bilateral oophorectomy.

Mercer University School of Medicine researchers received IRB approval for their project, “Premature Ovarian Insufficiency in Underserved and Rural Areas.”

The study will establish focus groups of women who have lost ovarian function due to prophylactic surgery related to a family history of breast or ovarian cancer, as well as those whose ovarian function was affected by cancer treatments. Insights from these groups will inform the development of medical education programs for rural physicians and patients, helping address existing gaps in care.

Ultimately, the team aims to establish an interdisciplinary clinic dedicated to the medical, mental health, wellness, and peer-support needs of cancer survivors and women who have undergone bilateral oophorectomy.

Researchers: Chefetz Menaker, PhD, associate professor of pharmacology; Kristina Hawkins, MD, associate professor of OB-GYN; Candi Nobles-James, MD, senior associate dean of the Mercer School of Medicine Macon Campus; Betsy Smith, DrPH, MPH, associate professor of internal medicine; Anna Krampl, associate professor of library and information science; and Sorita Carter, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral science.

AFNET is a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) on a mission to provide individuals with affordable, high-quality phone service while giving back to those who serve and inspire our communities— including veterans, first responders, teachers, healthcare workers, survivors of domestic violence, and many others.

Our newest initiative, our Hero Phone Program, provides the hero with a free phone and 3 months of service. We have both a smart phone and flip phone options with the choice of our Essentials Plan and Boot Camp plan. We have a goal of activating 500 veterans nationwide by the end of the year, and we would love to help any veterans that you work with.

If you have multiple veterans who need a phone, we have a spreadsheet specifically created for organizations that will allow us to activate and send all of the phones to one location.

All you need to do is fill out our enrollment form and select what you are looking for. The only requirement is providing proof of service/identification. After approval, you can log in to the site to shop and view your account for all updates.
