Rotary District 6900, by the numbers:

68 clubs, from Albany to Alpharetta, Bainbridge to Buckhead
More than 3,800 members!

The oldest club in it, Atlanta, was chartered in 1913. Rotary Club of Columbus, Ga was founded in 1916, and Rotary Club of Thomasville in 1921, and all are still going.

Somewhere in that list is a club that meets fifteen minutes from you.

A child who is not reading on grade level by third grade is already behind for everything that comes after. That is the whole reason literacy is one of the seven causes Rotary organises its work around.

Across this district it looks ordinary: books into classrooms, reading partners, supplies before the first bell, tutoring that keeps going after the grant runs out.

Not dramatic. It compounds.

You have driven past the sign at the edge of town a hundred times. So what is Rotary, actually?

It is people who live and work near you, who meet every week, and who take on problems in their own community that nobody else has picked up. Not a charity you donate to from a distance — a group you join and then do the work with.

There are 68 Rotary clubs across West Georgia and Metro Atlanta, with more than 3,800 members. Teachers, contractors, nurses, business owners, and people who retired and got restless.

The motto is Service Above Self. In practice, it means somebody has to do it, and these are the people who said they would.

Great meeting today with the leadership of the Georgia Rotary Student Program GRSP. Chaired by Ian Bond, the team participated in a packed meeting agenda filled with finance updates, strategic actions , awards and a year in review and ahead by Executive Director Katheryne Atkins Fields. DG Cynthia Dorsey Edwards endorsed the actions and direction of the group on behalf of D6900. The D6900 governor overall line enjoyed the meeting and the way forward!

Congratulations to the Atlanta Ascent Rotary Club on an incredible start!

The newly chartered Atlanta Ascent Rotary Club is already building tremendous momentum under the outstanding leadership of Charter President Max Zhong. Meeting at the exceptional Mission + Market in Buckhead, the club is bringing together an inspiring group of young professionals who are passionate about leadership, fellowship, and Service Above Self. The club had The Honorable Marilyn Morgan, Judge of Federal Bankruptcy Court (Retired) as their inaugural guest speaker.

Special recognition goes to the leaders who helped make this vision a reality:
