OUR STUDENTS DID EVERYTHING RIGHT. NOW IT’S OUR TURN. 🎓🩺

Think about spending years working toward your dream of becoming a doctor, getting accepted into medical school, and doing everything possible to prepare financially.

Then, suddenly, the funding you were counting on changes.

Morehouse School of Medicine recently shared that changes to federal student lending resulted in more than $13 million in lost loan availability for currently enrolled medical students.

For students already facing the tremendous cost of medical education, this creates very real challenges.

And it reminds us why the work of the Atlanta Medical Association and our Heritage Fund is so important.

When we raise money for medical student scholarships, we are investing in more than tuition assistance.

❤️ We are helping future physicians continue their education.

🩺 We are strengthening the next generation of doctors.

🎓 We are supporting students who have worked hard to earn their place in medicine.

🏥 And ultimately, we are investing in healthier communities for generations to come.

We commend Morehouse School of Medicine for advocating for its students and shining a light on this growing challenge.

Our future physicians need more than encouragement. They need opportunity, resources, and people willing to invest in their success.

That is why ATL Med continues to make medical student scholarships a priority.

Please consider supporting our scholarship mission.

Could that pain, numbness, or non-healing wound in your leg or foot be telling you something more?

Peripheral Artery Disease — commonly known as PAD — can reduce blood flow to the legs and feet and, when left unidentified or untreated, may progress to serious complications.

At the Atlanta Medical Association’s September General Body Meeting, physicians and community leaders came together for an important conversation on PAD awareness, early detection, limb preservation, health disparities, and preventing avoidable limb loss.

This education matters to both sides of the exam room.

For physicians and healthcare professionals, the conversation reinforces the importance of screening, listening to patients, recognizing risk factors, and referring for vascular evaluation when appropriate.
For patients and families, it is a reminder to pay attention to symptoms, ask questions, understand your treatment options, and advocate for your health.

🎥 Watch this short excerpt, then continue the conversation by watching the full September General Body Meeting on the Atlanta Medical Association YouTube channel:

Atlanta, we’re inviting you to help us make history. ❤️

On Saturday, October 24, the Atlanta Medical Association and our community partners will come together in Stonecrest for the WE C.A.R.E. Community Health Fair — and this year, we’re pursuing a world record for the number of cardiovascular screenings completed in one day.

But the record is only part of the story.

Every screening represents an opportunity for someone to better understand their health, identify a potential risk earlier, and connect with resources that can make a difference.

We need the community to show up.

Bring your parents. Bring your neighbors. Bring your church family. Bring your coworkers.

📅 Saturday, October 24, 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
📍 Samson Fitness Center
6400 Woodrow Road, Stonecrest, GA

Admission is FREE, with cardiovascular screenings and additional health and wellness resources available throughout the fair. Stay afterward for the WE C.A.R.E. Community Block Party from 2:00–6:00 PM featuring food, family activities, music and live entertainment.

BUSINESSES + COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS: there is still time to join us as a sponsor or vendor.
Current opportunities include health-fair informational tables, presenting sponsorships, entertainment support, volunteer sponsorships and approved in-kind contributions.

We’re kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with more than awareness — we’re creating access. 💗

The Atlanta Medical Association invites women throughout our community to take advantage of FREE breast screenings during the We C.A.R.E. Community Health Fair on Saturday, October 24.

Not everyone has the same access to preventive healthcare. Bringing screenings directly into the community creates an opportunity for more women to take an important step toward protecting their health.

📅 Saturday, October 24, 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
📍 Samson Fitness (on the campus of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church)
6400 Woodrow Rd., Stonecrest, GA 30038

Appointments can be reserved in advance, and only a small number of on-site screening slots are expected to be available.

We are grateful to partner with the American Cancer Society, My Style Matters, Meet H.E.R., and TOUCH, The Black Breast Cancer Alliance as we work together to expand breast health education, screening access, and resources within our community. My Style Matters, Meet H.E.R., and TOUCH are among the community partners supporting breast screening and education activities during the event.

Early detection matters. Please make your appointment — and share this with someone you love.
