7 in 10 Georgians struggling to pay for basic needs, study says

About 70% of Georgians face an affordability burden for housing, food, health care or child care, roughly matching the national rate.

Health care is the biggest burden measured in Georgia, affecting 48% of residents compared with 41% nationwide.

Nearly one in five Georgians faces burdens in at least three of the four categories, a higher share than the national figure.

As Georgia prepares for the 2026 elections, voters will choose leaders who will make important decisions affecting Medicaid, Georgia Access (the state's Health Insurance Marketplace), public health programs, hospitals and providers, and much more. Celebration of Progress & Possibilities 2026: Thank You!

On September 9, GHF supporters, partners, and friends filled City Winery Atlanta for the Celebration of Progress & Possibilities 2026. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of connection, reflection, and big ideas for the future of health care in Georgia!

The centerpiece of the night was Pitch for Progress, our live pitch competition. Last month, we spotlighted the three finalists selected to share their ideas. At the celebration, each finalist took the stage to present a bold idea for making health care more affordable, accessible, and equitable. Our judges recognized the strengths and potential of each proposal.
