Last month, Together Georgia had the honor of joining Senator Kay Kirkpatrick in hosting HUD Regional Administrator Chris Patterson, the National Lead on the Foster Youth Initiative Housing Vouchers, our local RA Denise Leggett, and Ruth White, Executive Director of the National Center for Housing and Child Welfare, an advocate and key author of the voucher legislation for a series of meetings regarding housing and Transition Age Youth.

Their busy week included a site visit of Wellroot Family Services The Oaks Independent Living Apartment Complex, a meeting at the The nsoro Educational Foundation with lived experience advocates, providers, and foundation partners, and several meetings at the Capitol with legislators, state agency leaders, the Lieutenant Governor's Office, and the Governor's Office.

Thank you to Senator Kirkpatrick for including Together Georgia in this important visit! We look forward to working alongside our partners to improve access to housing for our transition age youth.

We’re proud to share that the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities recently recognized The Methodist Home's Lighthouse for Families Counseling Services as a Regional Provider Award Winner of the Year.

DBHDD Region 2 Services Administrator April Edwards and Commissioner Kevin Tanner presented the award to Jill Stapleton, VP of Clinical Services, and Alison Evans, CEO of The Methodist Home for Children & Youth, who accepted the honor on behalf of the entire Lighthouse for Families team.
